SATURDAY we all slept in until about nine. David got the girls their breakfast and then skyped with Aunt Adj. and Isa, Bennett, and baby David while they ate breakfast. It was fun to see baby David on Skype, he is super cute and a good combination of Bennett and Isa although he looks more like Isa's baby pictures. After breakfast we went to the gym for a bit so David and I could walk together and work out. I also showered there so David was all ready with the girls when I walked out of the locker room. When we got home David quickly jumped in the shower and then we all headed downtown to an annual Longview event called 'Touch a Truck, Feed a Family.' I laugh a little bit every time I hear the title because it sounds so dumb. The touch a truck part is because there are a bunch of city service vehicles there that you can get into and honk the horn and everything. The feed a family part is because the fee to get in is a jar of peanut butter and it goes to the Longview food pantry. I think we were cutting it a little close to be going right before naps, Haley was definitely seeming tired. She was not interested in getting into any of the trucks or helicopters. Emily was in a good mood so David took her in the trucks he wanted to go into. I thought it kind of worked out that Haley was being a crank because a lot of the trucks had lines to wait to get into the trucks and they were all pretty boring to me.
Last year when we went to this event it was super cold, maybe a high of fifty and windy. This year it was a high of ninety and super sunny. We spent a good chunk of time indoors looking at some of the booths that were set up. Haley and Emy got their faces painted and we spent a long time in the Longview public transit bus (it was air conditioned in there). We saw our friends Josh and Libby Black with their two kids Ruthie and Jude. Haley and I just had breakfast with them yesterday in case you forget who they are. We also saw Amanda with Lucy and Evelyn. We hung out a while with them and then we headed out.
When we got home we put Haley and Emy right down for naps but we only let Haley sleep about an hour. After the girls woke up we played with them in the den for a while. Todd and Julianne were in charge of dinner and they made some delicious tilapia with rice and carrots. It actually got really cold in the evening, it was maybe in the sixties, so David and I decided to go out and get some stuff to make smores. We ran to Wal-mart with the girls after dinner and got all of the supplies. Then David made a fire in the back and we made some smores, it was super fun. Emily was more into the actual marshmallows but Haley like the actual smores. After the fire we came inside and put the girls in their jammies and put them to bed.
Saturday night Emily woke up probably three or four times coughing. I'm not sure what that is all about but she was coughing throughout the day on Sunday too. We did the nebulizer with her Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon and I think that helped. The high was 77 today and it was colder in the morning so we got to wear socks and shoes and sweaters over our dresses to church so that was kind of fun (except, David, he didn't wear a sweater or a dress). By the time the service was over it was warm again and we were pulling off our sweaters. We came home and David made BLTs for everybody for lunch. Emily went down for her nap fairly easily but Haley fought her nap for a while. She ended up not falling asleep until after two and then slept too long I think. David had to leave for an overnight trip somewhere in Texas today at 2:30 so we said good-bye and then really just spent the rest of the night hanging out together. I made pancakes for dinner and Haley and Emily each ate three. Haley and Jay played really well together this evening, they were in the play kitchen for a long time. Emily seemed a little under the weather and she was still coughing so I gave her some Tylenol before bed. Haley fought bedtime for a while, that's why I think she slept too late. She kept getting up to use the bathroom. It's ten right now and the last time she got up was maybe ten minutes ago so I hope she's done doing that.
Haleyism:
This is probably too much information but Haley is very interested when she goes #2. She loves to go and then analyze the results. She talks about the color, the size, and their placement in the potty. Then when she finally slushes she says 'bye' to them...in English and Spanish.
Emilyism:
Emily is turning into a screamer. It anyone does anything she doesn't like, she screams at them. It is getting ridiculous. I'm not sure if she was doing more than usual today because she wasn't feeling well but I hope that was the case because I felt like she was screaming all of the time.
