Another potty training horror story...don't worry Emily stayed out of it this time

Thursday morning we all got up and headed out to Bible study by 9 am.  Haley and Emily both woke up around 8:15 so it was easy to get them fed and dressed and nice that I didn't have to wake anybody up.  It worked out well because I was able to shower and do my make-up before they were up.  Bible study was at a girl's house from church who does not have any children but is expecting in March.  I brought some toys along for the kids to play with and Bonnie Mason also had so they had plenty to play with.  I put a pull-up on Haley because I didn't wanted to worry about her peeing everywhere when I also have Emily.  The study went really well and the kids played nicely through most of it.  Towards the end the kids all went into the new baby's room and Haley climbed into the new baby's crib and started jumping around.  We didn't really realize that this was happening until Haley jumped out of the crib.  Oops.  She cried for a little bit and didn't have a bump or anything so I'm assuming she's fine.

After Bible study I invited Amanda to come over with Lucy and Evelyn.  Haley had been acting a little tired at Bible study so I thought I would maybe have to put her down for a nap while they were here but she immediately gained a second wind when she saw them coming into the driveway.  They ended up eating lunch with us and playing until 2pm.  Their visit came to quite an abrupt end, I will tell you, don't worry.

I just left Haley with her shirt on and no panties because she seems to do best when she can just run and go on the potty whenever she wants.  She went on the potty as soon as we got home but kind of went downhill when the Caldwells came.  First she had an accident over by her kitchen but she did come to me and tell me that she had gone so we went over and I had her help clean it up.  Then, at about 1:45 or so, she and Lucy were playing in the living room when Lucy started shrieking.  I assumed Haley had taken a toy from her because Lucy usually shrieks when Haley takes her toys.  We looked over at Lucy who was standing there screaming.  Haley was standing about a foot away from her but was not holding anything so it didn't look like she had taken a toy.  That was when Amanda called out, "Oh no!  Haley pooped!"

Sure enough, Haley had pooped on our area rug and Lucy had stepped in it!  Lucy took two steps with the poop on her foot and then realized it wasn't coming off and started to scream.  Evelyn started to cry when she saw Lucy crying.  Haley just kept saying "Lucy, yucky, bleh.  As if Lucy had stepped in Haley's boo on purpose."  It was so nasty because it was in her toes and everything.  Amanda took her to the tub and washed her off and she calmed down.  Once the initial shock was over, and the rug and foot were cleaned, it was so funny.  The best part was that Lucy's reaction seemed to indicate that she knew exactly what had just happened and was super grossed out by it.  In reality, I think Lucy was just super mad that it wasn't coming off of her foot, not that it was Haley's boo.  After that they headed out and I put Haley down for a nap.  Emily had been asleep in her swing and continued sleeping through the whole commotion.

The girls woke up around 4:15 and at 4:30 we headed to Trinity Christian school to watch Ella and Chloe's basketball game.  Ella and Chloe are the two 8th grade girls that go to our church, Ella baby-sat for us the other night.  Haley had a great time pointing them out as they played and Emily stayed in her infant seat the whole time.  After the game we came home and finished putting a meal together for the Watson family.  The Watsons are the family with the trisomony 18 baby that I have mentioned on here several times, her name is Claire.  Claire has been doing okay, her latest bout has been with pneumonia but she is doing much better now and will be discharged tomorrow.  She continues to mystify doctors with her amazing recoveries.

We packed up the dinner, delivered it to the Watsons and then came straight home to eat dinner ourselves.  After dinner I gave the girls baths and then put Emily right to bed, she was so tired.  I let Haley stay up a little later to read books and then I put her down too.

Haleyism:
When Haley wakes up from her naps now she goes to the door and starts yelling 'open the door!' over and over.

Emilyism:
Emily did not sleep well on Wednesday night again.  I am going to be starting her on solid foods tomorrow or Saturday to see if it helps!

Sorry this is blurry but Haley was walking around in my shoes the other day.  I forgot to take pictures today!

Wednesday

Wednesday was a sad day for the Canche girls.  David left this morning for a three day trip to Orlando, he won't be home until late Friday night/Saturday morning.  We got up and went to BSF with our heavy hearts. BSF ended up being just what we needed.  Haley went right into her class without any problems and Emily did well in her class too.  When I went to pick Emily up the teachers had all the babies grouped together and they were blowing bubbles for them.  It really got my funny bone.  They were all sitting/laying there as the bubbles popped in their faces, haha.

After BSf we came home and had lunch and then I put Haley to bed.  I waited for her to go on the potty once and then I took her.  I put a pull-up on her during BSF because there is only one other boy in her class who is potty trained so it's not like the teachers are constantly taking kids to the bathroom and I feel like it would be a huge pain if she peed her pants.  She hasn't gotten good enough about telling us yet.  Haley and Emily took their naps at the same time so that was nice.  It gave me time to do my Bible study and relax.  Haley woke up after two hours and we basically spent the rest of the afternoon playing.  We read books, did puzzles, played with babies, and played with Emily.  We had potty breaks and snacks too.  She used the potty a couple times and didn't have any accidents.  I did make her sit on the potty every thirty minutes or so which she didn't always appreciate.  She had been up from her nap for two hours before she went pee the first time!

Towards the end of the afternoon we skyped David for a while.  As soon as we were finished Haley started crying because she wanted to 'talk to Daddy.'  Poor little boo.  Fortunately I was able to distract her by getting her all set to head to church.  It was so nice to be at our church potluck after being home with the girls all afternoon.  Emily was immediately snatched up and passed around and Haley had a fun time running around with her friends.  I ate my meal in peace for the most part.  Emily had a diaper explosion at one point so I changed her and then she was taken away again.  At one point she was getting passed around at the men's table, haha.

Amanda Caldwell and I were in charge of the Bible Explorers class for the evening.  They are the class that range from Kindergarten to 6th grade.  Amanda took the smaller kids and I took the older kids.  I have no idea how anyone would actually prefer the younger kids, I am just happy Amanda does!  Emily went in with the adults where she continued to get passed around until the pastor's wife brought her back out.  She was getting fussy and I think she was probably just getting bored because she perked right up when she could just watch all of the kids.  I asked if any of the kids wanted to hold her and all of them said 'me!' all at once.  she got passed around my group for a while.  My group consisted of three boys in 5th and 6th grade and two girls in 4th and 5th grade.  I thought it was funny the boys wanted to hold her but they did.  Two of the boys have a 3 year old brother and they kept reminiscing about when he was a baby, it was sweet.

Poor Dr. Mason was in with the 3 and unders, haha.  There were six kids total in that group and one of them had a blow-out poopy diaper, poor guy.  I let Haley out towards the end because he was holding her and she was just crying.  Amanda had some candy in her purse so she held Haley and fed her some Skittles while she talked with her group.

The most challenging part of the evening was when we got home.  Haley was pretty tired but Emily, for whatever reason, was wide awake.  I put the girls in their pajamas and put Haley in her bed and fed Emily.  Then I put Emily in her crib and held her hand so she couldn't knock her paci out.  When it seemed like she was relaxed, I left the room.  Emily kept having 'second winds' because I would hear her cooing and spitting and scratching at her mattress through the monitor.  Then a couple minutes later she would start to cry and I would go in and hold her hand and start over.  Haley was pretty wide awake from me going back and forth so finally I just brought Emily out.  An hour after I started bedtime, Haley finally fell asleep.  I let Emily play for a while and then I just held her to sleep.  She is now passed out in my arms as I write this.  It kind of works out because now Emily can sleep with me.  I like a baby to sleep with me when David isn't home!

Haleyism:
I think Haley may be teething because she was drooling a lot today and kind of clingy.  The only problem is I thought she had all her teeth.  How many molars do babies get?  She currently has four, one in each spot, does she get four more?

Emilyism:
Emily had two blow-out diapers today.

Haley asked for a pancake today at 4:30 in the afternoon.  Of course I gave her one!

Here it looks like she doesn't have a neck, haha

This is Emily at 9:45 pm, wide awake

She's so awake she's blurry

I must have just said something super interesting

I guess Haley used to stay up this late all the time....

Family date day

Tuesday morning I had a meeting for MOPS and David didn't have to work so I left the girls with him.  I thought it would be a great option because then they could both sleep in but when I left they were both awake.  Neither of them had a particularly good night.  Haley actually woke up two times and she usually never wakes up so that wasn't cool.  I left at 9:30 and got back just before 11:30.  David said he read books with the girls, got them dressed, put Haley on the potty various times, and attempted to put Emily to sleep.  When I got home his attempt had obviously failed because she was crying in the swing.  I took her out and fed her and she ended up drifting off then.  She wasn't supposed to be hungry but I think the crying made her hungry.  We have got to get that baby on a bottle.

David is going on a three day trip tomorrow so we decided to have a family date for lunch.  First we went to 'Pump it Up' which is a place that basically just has those big blow-up things everywhere.  We went there a couple weeks ago with my MOPS group and it was then that I realized that both of my kids are under two so it is completely free for us to go.  It was a lot more fun this time because it was not as full and we had David along.  He taught her how to climb up the slide and went down with her a bunch.  The only downside of our time there was when Haley had an accident.  I blame myself because I really should have put her on the potty by that time.  We had her go before we left the house but I hadn't had her go since we had been there.  It's a good thing those blow up things are that heavy-duty plastic, they are super easy to wipe off.  I know it seems dumb to not put a pull-up on her but I was told that it makes the potty training process go faster in the long run.  This was our first away-from-home accident besides the one at the gym so we're doing okay I think.  There were only two or three other moms there with their kids and David said he was pretty sure they didn't notice.  I just casually carried Haley out, put her on the potty in the bathroom, changed her pants, and let her go back to play.  Then I casually went over to the toy she had been playing on (no one else was playing in it) and wiped up the little drops.  Nothing to see over here folks!

After Pump it Up we went to Chick-fil-A for lunch.  Somebody gave us a giftcard to there back when Emily was born and we still had some money on it.  Also, David got me a giftcard to there for my Birthday but it didn't work last time I went and when I called the number on the back (like the people in the store told me to do) the people on the phone told me to have the people in the store fix it.  Oh my.  I just gave it to Dave and asked him to take care of it.  He took care of it while we were there and I was glad I had him do it because it was no easy task.  Haley went to the potty while we were there but it did take some bribing on my part.  She was on the potty insisting that she didn't have to go and I told her that she could have some ice cream if she went.  She immediately stopped whining and started peeing.  It was pretty amazing and very telling.  David bought her a 92 cent ice cream cone and I decided it was well worth it.  Emily slept through our time at Chick-fil-A.  She was starting to fuss so I put a blanket over her head and she went right to sleep in her infant seat.

When we got home we put the girls down for their naps and then David went to the airport to update a plane and I ended up falling asleep on the couch too.  David got home after an hour and a half or so and the girls woke up about two hours later.  David played with the girls while I straightened up the house for the baby-sitter.  David and I were meeting with our small group tonight for dinner and discussion and we had a girl from church coming to watch Haley.  Our normal baby sitter, Leah, is moving away and she didn't feel well today so we asked an 8th grader, Ella, to come watch Haley.  Haley got clingy and weird as soon as Ella walked in but Ella said she did not cry when we left.  We tried to just sneak out so maybe that helped.  Ella said that Haley went to the potty two times and then one time she was sitting on the potty and went but her panties were still up.  Ella was doing dishes in the kitchen so that's why she missed it.  When we got home Ella had just gone in to get Haley after putting her to sleep almost thirty minutes prior.  She said Haley started crying and she thought maybe she was afraid of the storm (it was raining outside, not really thundering too bad but I could see why she thought that).  I took Ella home and then came home and we put the girls to bed.

Haleyism:
It was not a super great potty training day for Haley.  She was on our bed talking about the accident she had there a couple days ago.  She kept going over to the spot where she had peed and saying ' pee pee on bed, yuck, bleh.'  A couple minutes later she peed on our bed.

Emilyism:
Today I put Emily on her tummy and went and did something and came back and she was on her back.  I am not super confident that she rolled over though because Haley was right there and a lot of times Haley will roll her over.  We'll keep you posted on this one.

Going down the slide at Pump it Up.  That little girl in the purple at the bottom of the slide liked to hang out with David and Haley, haha.

Blurry one of Haley jumping, I know I need to adjust the shutter speed on my camera!

It was hard to get a good picture with all of the jumping!  Notice the shorts and short sleeves, it was almost 80 today!

Playday with Lucy

Monday we spent the day cleaning and doing laundry.  Now you can decide if you want to keep on reading, haha.  The girls were super nice and slept in until just before nine.  Emily woke up twice during the night but the first time I just put her paci in so she only had one feeding and it wasn't until close to seven so that's pretty good.  We got up and I fed Haley breakfast and got Emily dressed and right about then, Lucy Caldwell arrived.  I told Amanda that I would take Lucy on Mondays so she could work on the house.  In return they will take our girls at some point.  I'm saving up my Lucy Mondays for a time when Dave has a big trip and I can go along.  Anyways, Lucy arrived around 9:15.  About five minutes later, the septic guy arrived to pump our septic.

I took Emily outside with me and showed him where everything was while Haley and Lucy watched from the doorway.  I am not positive that Haley had pants on, her shirt was long though so hopefully the guy didn't notice she was just in her panties.  I figured that Haley would probably have some accidents today since Lucy was here and I was right.  She had three but one of them was my fault.  The first one she told me about right away because she was in her pajamas and I think she was uncomfortable.  The second one I had to find myself but I suspected when she told me she had to go potty and then ran away to her room and went to the spot she had just gone.  The third accident was while I was in the shower.  I had put Emily to sleep in the swing and set up an Elmo's World episode for Haley and Lucy so I could try to resemble some picture of hygiene.  About two minutes into my shower Haley came walking in with the bucket from her potty, she had peed and wanted to cash it in for an M&M.  I got out of the shower, cleaned out her bowl and gave her an M&M.  She must have forgotten to put the bowl back in the potty because while I was drying my hair later, Lucy came in to inform me that Haley had gone potty on her chair.  I went out to the den and Haley was sitting on her potty nicely where she had peed on her bucketless potty.  She must not have noticed that without the bucket, she was peeing directly onto the carpet.

I did some dusting and cleaning before lunch and then I fed Lucy and Haley lunch and put them down for naps.  Emily had just gotten up from her morning nap so she got to hang out while I swept and mopped and then I put her down for a nap.  Amanda came around 2:30 to pick up Lucy but she was still sleeping so she hung out for a while.  Lucy must have known because she ended up sleeping almost three hours.  I folded laundry while we talked, it was nice to visit.  Amanda finally just went in and woke Lucy up.  Haley only slept two hours and she was very concerned when Lucy was not around after her nap.

After Amanda left I finished cleaning and started on dinner.  David came home at about 5:30 and played with the girls while I finished vacuuming and got dinner on the table.  He had men's Bible study at our house tonight so after dinner I packed the kids up and we went to the gym.  I kept Haley's panties on because she had peed on the potty right before we left.  She didn't have any accidents while I ran but I did watch her push a couple kids.  When I went to pick her up the lady said she had been a little mean to one little girl especially.  Basically she kept hugging her and then trying to push her down.  The poor little girl looked like she had just learned to walk so I'm sure a mean girl pushing her down was pretty scary.  I told them they were welcome to put her on timeout in the corner for long periods of time.  I admitted that sometimes I wait for her to do something bad at home so I can put her on timeout and get some things done...  I made her say sorry and then we left.  It was pretty embarrassing.  Haley only seems to pick on kids that are slightly smaller than she is.  I didn't have any problems with her and Lucy today, I think because Lucy is bigger.  I need to hang out with her and some smaller kids so I can spank her good whenever she bullies them.  She didn't have any accidents while we were there so that was good.

After the gym we came home and I put Haley on the potty where she booed and peed, a pay-off of 5 M&Ms!  David and his group were outside around a campfire so we had the run of the house until bedtime.  Emily was so tired so I put them in their jammies and put them to bed as soon as Haley had finished on the potty.  After I fed Emily and put her in the crib I gave Haley an applesauce snack and then she went to sleep.  When she was finished eating her applesauce she actually looked at me and said, 'all done applesauce, night night.'  I guess she was pretty tired because she closed her eyes as soon as I laid her down.

Haleyism:
Lucy calls me 'Ms. Katelyn.'  By the end of the day Haley was also calling me Katelyn.

Emilyism:
Today Emily was on her back on her tummy time mat and she was reaching for a toy.  She rolled over onto her side and was almost on her belly, then she rolled back over to her back.  I think she saw that I was watching or something.

Sitting on the potty and playing on her laptop

When I took this picture Haley was saying "no cheese!"

Haley uses the potty at church

Today Haley woke up just before 8:30, which is right before when my alarm was going to sound for church.  She came to bed with us until I could bear it no longer.  She ate a pancake while we showered and got ready for church.  Emily also woke up and sat in her bouncer chair for a while.  Haley peed on the potty before church and she has been doing so well out in public, but we thought we would rather play it safe and make sure she wore a diaper.  She really doesn't like wearing them anymore, so we put a panny on her and then a diaper over top.  We also brought the Dora seat with us to church in case she would ask to use the potty.  After the sermon, I went to pick her up from the nursery where she had been playing nicely.  I told her we were gonna try to use the potty and we went in and she peed right away on the potty.  I figured then she was safe enough to not have to put the diaper back on so she just spent the rest of the time with just pannies. On the way home we stopped by Walmart so Katelyn could run in and pick up some flowers for a baby shower she was going to.  Two couples from our church are due about the same time, so they were having a joint shower.  Down here, I have heard of co-ed showers, meaning that the men are invited too.  It's kinda weird, so I was glad to hear that this was not one of those... Haley had some lunch and sat on the potty to go pupu which she did.  Then she went to bed for a nap.  Emily ate and fell asleep in the swing so Katelyn just topped her off before she left and I stayed home with them.  Emily slept for over an hour after Katelyn left.  Haley lasted even longer.  Emily was fussy when she woke up so we went outside and waited for Haley to wake up.  Once that happened it was only about 30 minutes before mommy came home so I put Haley on the potty and gave her some goldfish crackers while she watched Elmo on the ipad.  Emily was really not happy at this point and I tried to make her a bottle which failed.  At last I figured she was only calm outside so I stood on the front porch with the front door open and watched Haley in the kitchen. Mommy came home to the rescue soon after and we all just hung out and tried to play for a little while as we waited for Haley to pee.  Then they went out to a park while I replaced a headlight on the civic and went to Pizza King with the LAS guys to meet some of the prospective pledges.  Katelyn said they played till it got dark and most people left so they didn't really feel too safe there anymore and came home.  Haley ate some dinner and then they played in the den until bedtime.  Haley went pee pee on the potty twice.  She wasn't sitting there the whole time either, she just said when she had to go and then went.

Haleyism: Now that Haley is pretty well on her way to being potty trained she says "Emily Blacgh!" whenever she sees us change a poopie diaper as if she hadn't been doing that very thing a week ago.
Emilyism: Emily still has not rolled over in case anyone was wondering.

Haley uses the potty, and the floor...

Sorry this post is so long, I'm covering for today and tomorrow!

Friday we all slept in together as a family.  David had a flight but he didn't have to leave until 9:30.  When he left we had just finished breakfast and I had the girls in the bathtub.  After baths I got the girls dressed and then we retired to the den to watch for boo and tinkle.  Haley did pretty well.  I put her on the potty every fifteen minutes or so and she would either go or tell me that she didn't have to go.  She was doing so well that at 11:45, when we finished our lunch and headed to the gym, I decided to keep her in her panties.  I told the childcare workers to put her on the potty at least once at the halfway mark or a couple times whenever.  I also told them they were welcome to put a diaper on her if they didn't want to deal with it.

I ran on the treadmill so I could watch the action.  There were two other kids in there and they were both older girls (three or four or something) so only four children in all.  It looked like one of the workers went for a lunch break or something because there was only one girl there and I think she must have been a new hire because I had never seen her before.  She spent most of the time with Emily.  Haley ran over a couple of times and I saw her point at the toys.  One of the other little girls played with Haley, they seemed to be having a good time.  After my run I went around and did some weights and then came back to the treadmill to see what was happening.  At that point Haley was running around without any pants so I could tell she had had an accident.  I went and took my shower and then picked up the girls.  When I got there the other lady was back in there.  She said that she did go to her lunchbreak and when she came back Haley had already gone in her pants.  Oops, sorry.

When we got home I put the girls down for a nap.  David got home about thirty minutes later.  We were having a small group game night later that night and Haley was going to have to go to bed early so I actually woke her up from her nap.  She was not very happy to be awake and really not happy to have to sit on the potty.  She cheered up right away when I offered her some ice cream.  Then I let her watch the Ipad and sit on the potty and she ended up going boo!

While I monitored Haley, David put shelves up in our guest room closet.  He put one shelf in when we first moved and he added three more.  We took a lot of the stuff out of the closet and rearranged it back on the new shelves, it is so much better now.  I really should have taken a before and after picture.  Emily woke up just as we were finishing the closet.  She slept about three hours which is pretty good for her.  We put on our socks and shoes and then headed over to our neighbor's house for a visit.  We put a pull-up on Haley because I didn't want to take any chances.

Francis was so happy to see the girls, especially Emily.  I can't believe how Emily reacts to her, she was smiling and cooing at her like crazy.  David talked to Victor (Francis's son who actually owns the house and lives there) for a while about our house because Victor worked on it years ago.  We have had some problems with our septic system so David wanted to get some insight on who put it in but Victor didn't really know.  After our visit to the neighbors we came home and started dinner.

We quickly ate dinner and then David and I took turns going to the visitation of Sarah Creech's Grandma who died on Wednesday.  We didn't want to take the kids and the funeral home was pretty close by so first I went and then came home and then David went.  As soon as David got home we all packed up in the van and headed to the Johnson's house.

The Johnson's are a family from our small group from our old church.  We actually still meet up with them and tonight was a game night.  The Creech's couldn't come because of the visitation but the Maglotts were there.  When we got there I took Haley to their guest room and laid down with her for a while.  She was pretty tired from her shortened nap so I thought she would go right down but it took her thirty minutes or so.  We ended up just leaving her in there and then when she came out of the room we would just put her in back in the bed.  It felt like pick up/put down for older babies.  She didn't cry or anything, she was just coming out.  We were actually a lot easier on her than the Johnson's were on their little boy Emory.  He is a month older than Haley and he got about five spankings because he kept coming out of his room.  Charity, the mom, said they weren't hard spankings.

We played two games: Pandemic and Ticket to Ride.  Both of them were super fun and I would totally play them again.  Emily was awake for the first game and then I put her to bed for the second.  The Johnson's guest bed was a queen so I had Haley up by the pillows and then I laid Emily down by the foot of the bed.  She was pretty tired so she went to sleep almost right away.  I think we had to go back twice to put her paci in.  We ended up playing games at the Johnson's until just before mdnight.  Then we loaded up the kids and headed home.  Haley woke up during the transfer but she went right to sleep when we got home.

Emily was kind of a stinker Friday night, she woke up three times in seven hours, not cool.  I got up and took a shower right away and got ready to go to Sarah's Grandma's funeral.  David stayed home with the girls.  I fed Emily and put her to sleep in the swing right before I left so he didn't have to worry about her.  I was only gone for about an hour, the funeral was very nice and I was glad I went.  I talked to Sarah and Jon for a while afterwards but did not go to the gravesite because it was raining and they weren't sure if it was just for family.  When I got home David was pretty excited.

Haley had one accident at the very beginning of his time with her but right before I got home Haley had been playing when suddenly she stopped playing, walked over to her potty, and went pee pee on it.  He said she didn't say anything to him about the potty, she just went herself.  I congratulated Haley and then David and I were talking about the funeral while Haley played with her dolls.  Suddenly she stopped playing with her dolls, went over to the potty, and went pee pee again!  By that point David and I were ready to pee ourselves, no pun intended.  We had a big celebration and then ate lunch together.  After lunch Haley went pee pee one more time and then went down for a nap.  Emily also took a nap except she took hers in the swing.  Emily slept about two hours and Haley slept three.

As soon as they woke up we put on their shoes and headed out to run some errands.  We put Haley on the potty before we left but she claimed she didn't have to go.  Our first stop was Big Lots to pick up some batteries, they have them super cheap.  I had also seen online that all Buzz Club shoppers got 20% off their entire purchase.  Buzz Club basically just means you get e-mails from them.  We ended up going around and picking up some other stuff for pretty cheap.  I got Haley some more juice boxes and David found ibuprofen for a good price.  We ended up perusing there for quite a while but Haley said she didn't have to go pee pee.  We had a scare in one aisle when her cuppy tipped over.  Apparently the lid was coming off because we heard some water dripping under the cart.  David and I both looked at eachother in horror but when we looked down we realized it was water, phew.

After Big Lots we went to Target to get some gifts for a baby shower I am going to tomorrow.  David took Emily and printed out the gift registry papers and I took Haley to the family bathroom.  She hadn't used the potty since her nap and it had been almost two hours.  There were people in there so I took her to the ladies room but she really didn't like it in there.  She asked to get off right away.  I took her off and we went to the family restroom where the people were just leaving.  I took Haley in there and she started to get cranky right away.  I told her that if she went pee pee then I would give her a toy or candy, whichever one she wanted.  I thought she might not understand what I was saying but she did calm down when I mentioned candy and then a couple seconds later she went pee pee!  I was so excited, her first potty break in a public restroom!

We picked out our gifts from Target and then headed to Kohl's where we didn't find anything and then finally Wal-mart.  By the time we got home it had been another hour so we got the potty out for Haley.  She watched the Ipad and went pee pee while David made dinner and I fed Emily.  David says he would rather make dinner then watch Haley when she's potty training.  He might change his mind soon though because Haley went pee pee two times and I didn't have to do anything except clean out the potty and give her the M&M.  After dinner we took baths.  Haley's crowning achievement of the day was when she was in the bathtub and she asked to get out because she had to go potty.  I took her out and she went right away, way to go Haley!  Her crowning achievement was quickly followed by her biggest failure.  She was walking around bare bottomed and I went out to finish putting her eczema lotion on her and there was a big piece of boo in the dining room, yuck.  I asked her what it was and she told me it was 'beh' and 'yucky.'  Well yes it is.  We put it in the potty and then went to bed.

Daddy and Haley have a fun little word they say to eachother, it is 'fabba.'  It doesn't mean anything, they just like to say it.  Anyways, today Haley was cranky in the car and David was trying to cheer her up so he said, "Haley, fabba!" and she said, 'No fabba!'  It was kind of funny.

Emilyism:
Emily is getting better at going to bed at night.  I used to have to stand there and hold her hand so she wouldn't hit her paci out of her mouth but now she doesn't really do that anymore so I can pretty much walk away and she goes to sleep.

Haley found this hat while she was helping clean out the closet. 76ers fan already!

These are the girls sleeping on the bed at the Johnson's house.

Using the potty.  She prefers to wear her hat backwards

She's watching the Ipad, you just can't see it in this picture

Haley's head injury

Wednesday night Emily slept nine hours, then woke up and I fed her, and then went back to sleep until I had to wake her up to leave for Bible study.  I also had to wake Haley up to go, those girls were sleepy.  I put Haley on the potty as soon as she was up but after sitting on there for about ten minutes, she still hadn't gone and it was time to go.

Bible study was at the Masons' house today and it went really well.  We covered the chapter about time from the book One Thousand Gifts and it basically made all of us want to not hurry through motherhood. I had a pull-up on Haley while we were there, I didn't want her having accidents all over the Mason's house.  Towards the end of our time there all of the kids were playing outside on the Mason's playground.  Bonnie went out to check on them and just as she got there she watched Haley slip off the playground ladder (she was trying to climb up while holding something in her hand) and hit her head on one of the rungs on her way down.  She was only two steps up so she didn't fall far at all. Bonnie scooped her up and brought her inside.

I saw Bonnie coming in holding Haley and I thought she must have fallen over or something but when I went over to take her I saw that her whole forehead was covered with blood and it was dripping down her face.  I grabbed her and took her to the sink and Meg helped me wash her face and the place where she got cut.  The cut was super small and didn't look bad at all so Meg said that it must have just hit real near a vein or something.  David mentioned later that blood always looks a hundred times worse when it's on the face, I totally agree.  After washing her off and applying some pressure the bleeding stopped fairly quickly.  Haley did not cry long and she wasn't crying super hard either.  She stopped once we located her paci and gave it to her.  Actually, after a couple minutes of us applying pressure and looking at her cut, she started asking to go outside again.  We brought the other kids inside and turned on a movie instead.

Emily fell asleep on the way back from Bible study and Haley went for a nap after lunch.  Once they woke up it was time for full fledge potty training again.  It was kind of nice having the morning off but it made me more determined to have a successful afternoon.  I gave her a bunch of juice and had her go potty every fifteen minutes or so.  She has made some progress in that when I have her go, she either gets mad and tells me she doesn't have to go, or she actually goes.  She did not ever tell me today when she had to go but there were a couple times where she would pause and look at me with a funny face and then I put her on and she went.  By taking her throughout the rest of the day like that, she ended up with an accident-free day!

Actually, now that I think about it, she did have one accident.  David was working outside on the septic system which, as it turns out, we seem to be in deep boo boo about, and we went outside to see how it was going.  While we were watching him dig, she peed in the grass.  I have been having her wear her panties so she can feel what it's like to have an accident, she had been insisting on going naked before. The only time I had Haley sit on the potty for a long period of time was while I was making dinner.  She hadn't booed yet and I was a little paranoid about her doing that secretly while I was in the kitchen.  She watched an Elmo episode until dinner was ready.  She actually wanted to keep watching Elmo instead of have dinner with us.  We put Emily on the table in her bumbo during dinner and Haley just couldn't resist her.  She kept asking to 'kiss Emmy,' it was so cute.

After dinner we ran to Kroger to get some gas for the van.  We get 10 cents off per gallon and we hda to use it before the end of the month and the van was empty anyways so that's why we went to Kroger specifically.  If anyone's comparing, we got it for 2.99 a gallon.  After Kroger we went to Lowe's to pick up some shelving racks that David is going to put up in the spare bedroom closet.  On our way there both of the girls fell asleep!  I ended up staying in the car while David ran in to get the stuff.  When we got home we ended up putting Haley to bed, she went down around 7:30 or so, pretty early.  Emily stayed up until eight and then she also went to bed.

Haleyism:
While I was making dinner Haley kept getting off the potty and the screen of the Ipad, she was kissing Elmo.  She is kind of weird.  Also, while we were cleaning up her cut today at the Masons, she kept asking for Lucy.  Amanda was holding her so she brought her over so Haley could see her, I guess she needed some friend support.

Emilyism:
Emily likes to spit.  Also she likes to scratch her sheets.  Something about that sound, a little baby scratching at her crib mattress sheet, gets my funny bone.

Haley sitting nicely on the potty and eating one of her M&Ms. She had just gone pee pee but we were still waiting for the big boo.  That boo never showed up today by the way.  Tomorrow may be a little messy!

Happy Birthday Aunt Kimi, love Haley and Emily

We are sorry we missed a post on Aunt Kimi's Birthday but better late than never I always say!  Aunt Kimi is the mommy of cousin Ellie who is only two and a half weeks older than Emily.  We expect them to be best buds.  She has always been a very attentive aunt, even now with her own baby!  We were sorry we couldn't be with her on her Birthday in PA, but I'm sure she had a happy time without us.  Happy Birthday Aunt Kimi, we hope it was a good one!  Here is our tribute:

Okay, I know I have two days to catch up on so I will try to do them both.  Be warned though, potty training brings a lot more excitement into our lives and maybe a few unwanted details.  Okay, you've been warned, if you read more than you wanted to, it's your fault!

Tuesday we had MOPS so I got up around eight or so and Haley woke up soon after.  I put her on the potty and gave her a poptart to eat.  I can't remember for sure but I kind of think she went pee.  Emily watched nearby in her bouncer seat once she had woken up.  We were out the door by 9 with Haley in a pull-up.  When we got to the church I told Haley's teacher that she was potty training and that they should put her on the potty if she asks.  I still take Emily in with me to the meeting because I hardly hold her anyways because she gets passed around so much.  When she got fussy I took her back and put a blanket on her head and she fell asleep.  She is not always so easy, sometimes I have to stand up and sway a little bit but she must have been tired from all of the new faces because she went to sleep right away.  When I went to pick up Haley she had a note that said she went #1 at 10:15 written next to her name where I check her in and out.  I was pretty excited and confirmed with the teacher just in case.  The teacher said she didn't ask to go, they just put her on the potty when they put all the other kids on.

My potty high did not last long.  When we got home I fed her lunch on the potty and then decided I would wait to put her down for a nap until she had gone at least once.  Well, she got sick of sitting on the potty after about an hour so I let her off and just watched her closely.  A couple minutes later she was squatting and I could see boo coming out.  I grabbed her and cupped my hand under her bottom to catch the boo in case it came out.  It did.  It bounced out of my hand and hit an innocent Emily who was laying on her tummy time mat a couple feet away from the potty.  It hit her in the face, about an inch from her eye and then rolled away.  Poor Emily had boo on her face, I had boo on my hand, and Haley had boo on the carpet.  I tried not to sound too frustrated as we cleaned up the mess and then headed to the potty to dispose of the boo.  While at the potty, Haley was playing with the lid when she promptly peed, right next to the very throne she should have asked to sit on!  At that point, I put a diaper on her and put her to bed.

God must have known I needed a break because Haley then slept for over three hours.  Emily slept for about two hours of that time.  After Haley had been asleep three and a half hours, I went into her room to wake her up.  I loved the quiet afternoon but I didn't want to stay up with her until midnight waiting for her to get tired.  I brought the potty along and had her sit on it as soon as she got up and she peed right away, that was a nice change.  Then I put her in panties and pants, said a quick prayer, and headed out to buy some more juice boxes from Big Lots.  We ended up buying some toothpaste and batteries too, I think I'm going to like that place.  After Big Lots we went to Target to take back a toy organizer we bought last week.  We found a cheaper, bigger one at Big Lots and we still had the one from Target in our trunk.  It had been an hour since Haley had peed so the first thing I did was take her into the Target bathroom and give it a shot.  She sat on the potty and promptly asked to watch the Ipad, oh my.  After a couple minutes she said she was all done = didn't have to go, so we went and returned the thing and then headed home.

David got home from work a couple minutes later and refereed the children while I made dinner.  We ended up switching places eventually because the potty training was getting a bit intense.  We ate dinner and then David gave the kids baths while I did the dishes.  As soon as Haley hits the bathwater she starts to pee so it was easy to watch for that and then quick transfer her to the toilet, I'll take any victory we can get.  After baths David watched the kids while I vacuumed.  That turned out to be kind of a disaster.  Haley had two accidents:  one in her room and one, wait for it...on our bed.  David said he was watching her jump around on the bed while simultaneously thinking about how dangerous it was, and then she peed.  After that we put the kids to bed, we had had enough!

TODAY, I woke up feeling super refreshed.  I think Emily has been feeling bad about how difficult potty training is, so she decided to do me a favor and, SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT!  We put her to bed around 9 last night and I had to wake her up at 8:30 so I wouldn't be late to Bible study this morning!  I have no idea what brought on this sudden sleepy streak, especially because Monday night she slept terrible.  I put her in similar pajamas tonight and tried to have her at the same place on her mattress but I can only hope it will happen again.  I put Haley on the potty as soon as she woke up and she went right away.

We had BSF this morning and I gave Haley's teachers the same schpeal I had given the MOPS teachers.  When I went to pick her up the teacher said she had asked to go and they took her but apparently she was just wanting some alone time with the teacher or something because she didn't go at all.  After Bible study we came home and had lunch.  Haley sat on the potty while she ate.  I decided again to wait to put her down for a nap until she had gone potty.  Two and a half hours later, she finally went.  David had a trip today but it ended up getting cut short so he was home for most of the day.  He hasn't been feeling well and has had to get up at 5am the past two mornings so he napped most of the afternoon.  Haley slept two and a half hours and finally I went in and woke her up because it was getting late and it was so beautiful out and I really wanted to go to the park.  Her diaper from her nap was dry.  I put her on the potty as soon as she got up and she eventually went after about fifteen minutes or so.

We spent just under an hour at the park and Haley never had to go pee pee.  We brought the potty along just in case.  Then we came home and I put my potluck macaroni and cheese in the oven and Haley sat on the potty until it was time for church.  It worked out pretty well because she ended up going just before it was time to go.  I put a pull-up on her for church and she never asked to go while we were there but she did pee in her pull-up at least two times from what I could tell.  Bonnie Mason was in childcare with Haley and two little boys (The Caldwell girls are sick) and she said Haley sang the abc song for her three times.  She said each time she sang it she would look her straight in the eyes and sing it really seriously like it was a sad song or something, haha.

After church we came home and sat Haley on the potty again.  She got tired of it after a while and played but ended up peeing about a foot away from it.  I'm not sure what has happened but she doesn't tell us when she is going anymore.  At first she told us as she was going and there were even a couple times when she told us before she had to go, but now she doesn't tell us at all.  I wonder if a couple frustrated reactions have now made her want to hide it, I hope not.  If you have any advice, please pass it on!

Haleyism:
Today I asked Haley what she wanted for lunch.  I listed off a bunch of options like chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, string cheese, applesauce, and chips.  She listened intently and when I was finished said, "ice cream."

Emilyism:
Emily slept through the night, can't say it enough!

Haley understands the pee pee/M&M correlation

Today was a long day of potty training.  Haley made it especially long by waking up at eight.  That wouldn't have been too bad except Emily had been up three or four times last night so I was pretty tired.  I brought Haley back to bed with me and she laid there for a while but then kept poking her head up and messing with Emily so we got up.  I put her on the potty right away and gave her a pop tart.  Emily woke up not too long after and she sat in the bouncer seat and Haley sat on the potty while I took a shower.  Despite the sound of the shower, Haley didn't go potty.  I left them in those spots while I did my hair and make-up.  Haley got up after a while and played in the bathroom but still didn't go.

I got Emily dressed and put a shirt on Haley, she doesn't like to wear underwear for some reason.  She loves her Dora panties, just not on.  We went to the den and played for a while and Haley finally went pee pee on the potty.  She was already sitting on there watching an Arthur episode but it still counts!  I dusted the den while Haley was on the potty and Emily was on the tummy time mat.  Then Emily got cranky so I put her in the swing to nap and Haley helped me dust the rest of the house.  We brought the potty with us from room to room and she was supposed to tell me when she had to go but she ended up having two accidents.  Both times she went to the other room and when I followed her she was going.  One time she was behind the curtains in the living room hiding and the other time she was in the kitchen so I was happy that at least it wasn't on the carpet.  She was telling me 'poo poo potty' when she went in the kitchen so at least she was making some effort.

We ate lunch and then she sat on the potty for a while until she peed.  It was kind of nice because she just sat on the potty while I cleaned the bathroom.  I sat her on her potty while I cleaned the big toilet.  After she peed she went down for a nap.  Just as I walked out of Haley's room from putting her down for a nap, Emily woke up!  I think these babies were conspiring against me today, I never had anytime with both of them sleeping.  Emily had slept over two hours so she was in a pretty good mood.  I put her in her bouncy seat and then swept and mopped the hardwood floor.  Then I put her in the exersaucer and spent some time with her.  She loves the exersaucer.

Haley only slept an hour and a half and as soon as she got up it was back to potty time.  I was especially nervous because she had not booed yet.  Her diaper from nap was a little wet but not much, she probably went once in there.  She spent the better part of two hours on the potty.  I kept her there with Arthur and Elmo videos while I swept and mopped the bathroom and kitchen floors.  Haley watched so many videos today, Pop's would say her brain is oatmeal.  It actually worked out pretty good because she finally booed on the potty, two and a half hours after she woke up from her nap!  I don't think she peed but I can't be sure, it's hard to tell in the big potty.

After her boo I let her down to play and just kept an eye on her.  She had drunk a little bit so I did put her on the potty every fifteen minutes or so just in case but she didn't ever end up going.  We were supposed to have small group tonight but one of the couples was sick and another of the couple's grandma is about to die so it was just us and the Maglotts.  We decided to still meet and hang out but not go over the material.  They said we should bring Haley and Emily so I cancelled the baby-sitter and made some cookies to bring along.  I got everything ready to go and made getting Haley dressed the last thing before we headed out the door.  It was a good thing I did because just as I was getting her pants and shoes together, she told me she had to go potty.  I put her on the potty and about three minutes later, she went!  I was so excited because it was the first time she asked to go before she had actually started peeing and it was the first time she asked to go and then actually went right away instead of an hour later.  I think she's starting to understand the cause and effect relationship between peeing and M&Ms.

After our celebration we headed to the Maglotts.  I put a pull-up on Haley because quite frankly, I wanted a break!  She did ask to go one time when we were there and I was nursing Emily so David took her and she didn't go.  I think if she had stayed on their potty for a while she maybe would have because David said she hadn't gone yet but when we got home it looks like she maybe went once while we were there.  It was nice to catch-up with the Maglotts and Haley played so nicely with their little daughter's toys.  Their daughter, Eva, is 11 months old so her toys are pretty baby-ish but Haley loved to walk around behind this one toy that is supposed to help teach babies to walk.  Eva was up for about fifteen minutes when we got there and then they put her to bed but that was long enough for Haley to start crawling around imitating her.

We stayed at the Maglotts until almost nine.  The first thing I did when we got home was take off Haley's pull-up and pants.  I kind of wanted her to pee one last time before bed.  It ended up working out great.  She told me she had to  go and I took her to the potty and turned on an Elmo episode for her and listened for the pee.  You have to listen for it on the big potty because you can't tell if she's gone otherwise.  I think she likes the big potty better because it has a Dora seat and is more comfortable than the little one.  I kind of forgot to watch for her to pee and David and I were talking when Haley called out, "pee pee, yay!"  Neither of us had heard anything but her bottom was wet so we celebrated and gave her two M&Ms.  Then we put her pajamas on and put her and Emily to bed.

Haleyism:
The other day we were in the car and I was talking to David and called him David.  Haley quickly corrected me, "mommy, it's Daddy."  Haha.

Emilyism:
Emily loves the exersaucer, she even kind of jumps in it.  I'll try and post a video of her in it tomorrow.
