A day of MOPS

Tuesday morning the girls and I got up to go to MOPS.  It was cold so I put them in their matching sweaters.  Haley's red shoes were still missing so she wore her black ones with a pink heart on the end, she's borrowing them from her Brust cousins.  She went right into her class when I dropped her off, I guess she's officially over separation anxiety, I think I have it worse than she does.  It is kind of sad seeing her act like a big girl!

Our MOPs meeting was an all craft day and we made two crafts: a bead trivet and a felt Christmas tree.  I was kind of confused about the felt Christmas tree because it seemed kind of random but then someone explained that it is for your kids to play with and it made more sense.  Each MOPS table has an older lady who is there to mentor the young moms, a mentor mom is what we call her.  Anyways, since we were doing crafts the whole time, my mentor mom held Emily for most of the morning.  I put her to sleep (aka, put a blanket over her head) at the beginning and then passed her off.

After MOPS we came home and I fed Haley and put Emily to sleep in the swing.  Haley did not eat very much for lunch and was starting to act silly after a bit so I ended up putting her down for a nap right after.  Well Haley must have been exhausted because she slept almost three hours!  It worked out really nice except Emily only slept two hours and she had already been sleeping about forty-five minutes before I put Haley to bed so I didn't get as much done as I thought I should have.  Emily and I had some nice one-on-one time, she watched me finish folding laundry and let me whisk her around while I put it away.  I put her back in the swing for another nap just as Haley was waking up.

Haley woke up super cranky so we cured that by reading some books.  Then I fed her a snack and started making dinner.  About fifteen minutes into that venture I realized that I didn't have salsa and my dinner called for a bunch of salsa, plus David likes to eat this dinner with salsa on the side (it is chimichangas).  I was already halfway through making it so I had no choice but to wake up Emily, pack everyone in the van, and run to Wal-mart for the salsa.  It is really nice that Wal-mart is so close, less than a mile really.  Haley gained from my mistake because she got to get a cookie at the bakery.  We were in and out in a matter of minutes and then ran home to finish dinner.

David got home a couple minutes later and changed his clothes for our MOPS Christmas party.  We had a double dose of MOPS today because the family Christmas party was tonight.  It is actually pretty low key, only an hour and a half and they had a Christmas movie playing for the kids.  They had a little photo booth set up for family pictures just for fun and I was hoping to get our Christmas family picture taken there.  I know that seems really lame but I was getting so desperate!  Our camera is so junky (David's phone has more pixels) and it's hard to get someone else to take it for you unless it's on a whim and we're never all in our Christmas sweaters and ready to go on a whim.  So, I had the girls in their sweaters and Dave and I wore something nice and we had Weston Smith take a bunch of pictures in the photo booth.  It's kind of a random background but I am not picky when it's this close to Christmas!  Weston ended up taking almost 100 pictures!  He was constantly taking them so about 95 of them were not usable.  The Smith's and us had gotten there a little early to help set-up so please don't picture us hogging the photo booth for the whole party.

Haley had a fun time at the party, she ran around a lot with Lucy and Evelyn.  Emily ended up sleeping through most of it.  Afterwards we helped clean up and then came home and fed Haley a snack and put her to bed.  Then David did some online Christmas shopping while I made our Christmas card.  Now I'm going to bed!  Oh, and I forgot to say that I found Haley's other red shoe today!  It was wedged between the wall and the dresser in her room!  All that looking, and you can't even see her shoes in the picture, go figure!

Haleyism:
We were looking for Haley's red shoe today and I asked her where it was and she started calling out, "shoe, shoe, where are you?"  Then she pointed across the room and said "there it is."  It wasn't there, I think she was just done looking.

Emilyism:
Emily was still coughing a lot today and she sounds awful so we made an appointment for the doctor for tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes.

One of our family picture outtakes.  This one seemed a bit blurry but it was one of my favorites.

Haley liked to sit in that toy box

David saw Governor Perry at the Houston Airport today. He's the guy in the white shirt

David took this video of Haley playing with her friend Ki (short for Hezekiah, no joke)

  1. It is obvious that I should have gotten Haley a plastic box for Christmas!!! Love, Mimi

  2. Sitting in random toy bins must be a family trait, since both Haley & Jay love doing it.
Cute family picture! Can't wait to see the card. I just ordered mine last night so you probably will just have to see ours here because it won't be mailed to you in time!
And the Bradshaw's (response to your comment on my post) are from the south - the wife is from Alabama and the husband Tennessee. So close to Louisiana!
