March

Hey everyone!  I'm here to update for March.  I looked at the calendar of the past month and it didn't seem all that full but we did take a lot of pictures.  Some of the highlights of the month were that I started my weekly Dr. appointments which means new baby is getting here soon.  In the beginning of the month we moved Emily to a toddler bed which I was all geared up to go awful but she surprised us all and adjusted fairly quickly.  My biggest fear was that she would get up and mess with Haley during naptime or nighttime.  She actually has yet to bother Haley and when she wakes up she leaves the room right away.  She did much better than Haley did when we moved her to a bed but I think that might be because Haley is in the room with her so she doesn't care so much when we leave her in there.  Honestly though, Emily couldn't really care less if we go anywhere without her so it might just be her personality.  She has yet to show any signs of separation anxiety whatsoever.  This month I also attended a women's retreat at my church and David had the girls for that Friday night and all day Saturday (I came home during the night though, it wasn't out of town or anything).  David's mom visited towards the end of the month which was probably our most exciting event of the month.  I'll let the pictures do most of the rest of the talking!

Emily ate a chocolate donut at church a couple Sundays ago and our pastor took a picture on his phone and sent it to us

You can see Emily is avoiding eye contact with him apparently.  He thought it was so cute that her face had chocolate on it.  I guess he is not around Emily enough, I like to try and capture moments when her face does not have food on it.

Emily had a hard time falling asleep for nap one afternoon and David was tired anyways so they took a nap together.

Haley built a lot of towers in the month of March.  She is wearing her favorite 'purple pants' which she requests to wear almost everyday.  There is a hole in one of the knees about the size of a pea and she is very proud of it.  I hate these pants!

One rainy evening we went to the mall to walk around and the girls spent some time on the quarter machines.  They don't know that they move when you put a quarter in and please don't tell them.  Emily kept wanting to go in whatever ride Haley was in.

During the second week of March we went to a place called "Ms. Lee's Daffodil garden."  It is basically four acres that you can drive through and see lots of daffodils.  Notice the daffodils in the background.  We packed a lunch and took a walk around a pond while we were there.  I think Haley and Emily's favorite part was that we let them out of their car seats while we were driving through.

They were looking at a turtle.

David and I went on a golfing date one Saturday afternoon.  I would say that sports are not flattering for pregnant people.  Not many things are really.

Haley and Emy hanging out on Haley's bed watching the Ipad.  Haley looks like a big girl in this picture.  Emily looks like a hippie with her flip flops, haha.

The carnival came to Longview!  David took the girls on the merry go round.  It was kind of a chilly, rainy day so one time was enough and then we left.  We were probably there all of ten minutes actually.  Emily was nervous at first but she liked it by the end.

New baby.  Haley has mentioned to me several times that she also has a new baby.  One morning we were driving to Bible Study fellowship and she told me she didn't feel good.  I asked her what hurt and she said, "my new baby."  Um, okay.

Eating a snack.  Haley is usually wearing dress-ups and Emy usually loses her shirt sometime during the day because she gets it so dirty.

The other night they were watching a movie together before bed and this is how they were sitting, it was so cute.

Sisters

We had spaghetti one night for dinner and Haley got distracted by making Hs with her noodles.

Oh my, this picture is from when David had the girls the Saturday I was gone at our women's retreat at church.  I think he made the girls wish that I was gone every Saturday.  He packed a lunch and took them to the park and then the pet store.

They are pretty evenly weighted for this thing.

Yes, he even put his daughter's hair in a side pony tail.  No, Haley is not wearing pajama pants but they are supposed to be paired with a red Christmas sweater jacket.

Emily liked getting down to the animal's level at the pet store

When I got back from the church retreat on Saturday we had dinner (David already had it going on the stove when I got home at 5) and then we went to a bakery/restaurant place for dessert.  We let the girls stay in their dress-ups.

Abuelita came and visited the last week of March!

We went for a walk outside at the gym and the girls showed off some of their moves

Emily holding an apple like she has some kind of disability.

Abuelita showed the girls pictures of their cousins on her phone

Sadly Abuelita's visit ended all too soon.  Haley insisted on rolling her carry-on into the airport.

Some last minute time together

I really wish Haley was looking at the camera for this one!  We think Emily gets her green eyes from Abuelita!

Haleyism:
Haley has a hard time wearing socks and underwear.  Typing it out seems just as ridiculous as living it.  Almost every morning she asks to not wear panties and cries and says it hurts when she's putting them on (she says they get stuck, I tell her everyone's panties get "stuck").  Just a couple days ago I started giving her an M&M if she can get dressed without crying and so far we have had a few tearless mornings.  I tried punishment and that seemed to escalate everything and I tried buying expensive, organic, seamless underwear which she seemed to like better at first but now not really.  I did move her clothing drawer to a lower drawer so she can pick out her clothes and dress herself.  She requests to wear her purple pants and a pink short-sleeved t-shirt with a penguin on it everyday.  After they get dirty she has a hard time but usually resorts to these random pants she has from Christmas and other loose fitting options.  Anyways, I do laundry on Monday and so far she has worn those purple pants and penguin shirt every Tuesday and sometimes Wednesdays.  I'm sure the people at Bible Study Fellowship wonder why I don't put more thought into her wardrobe.  I feel like I need to make a sign for her that says "I dressed myself today."  Also, she picked out a red dress at a consignment sale a couple weeks ago and she has worn it to church FIVE weeks in a row.  I have just decided that she obviously cares about her clothing choices more than I do so I will try and let it go.  I have contented myself with dressing Emily.  She has not worn socks since December.

Emilyism:
Emily LOVES to have books read to her.  It is hands down her favorite thing to do.  I feel like I spend a good portion of my playtime with the girls reading books and it is usually the same ones.  She sits in dumbfounded silence through page after page of long books (think the six story volume of Curious George-it's almost 200 pages).  She has also started talking more and now repeats more when we ask her to say things.  One of my favorite things she does is when we are reading our Bible story at night or any Bible book, she always points out Jesus and says Jesus over and over.  She also likes to sing but only one song that she has learned at Bible study Fellowship.  I think we have a video of it, I will try and find it and post it.  Her voice is pretty low and very off tune, haha.  She also likes to blow raspberries on my belly although it is kind of gross for me because she usually leaves a lot of snot behind.

I think that's all folks!  I will try and post more often in April, I am trying to get back into the swing of it, maybe I will move up to week by week?  I will for sure be posting more when new baby comes!

  1. Yay for the update! I can't wait for Emy and Ellie to spend time together, soon! Emy is going to blow Ellie out of the water - she won't know what to do with her. Ha.
