On Wednesday, April 16th, my sister Carly went in to get induced with her 4th child. I had BSF in the morning so I kept my phone on silent but I had it next to me so I could see anytime that I got a text. Mom had arrived in Chicago on Monday so she was there during some of Carly's labor and she kept us well informed. Carly was in labor without an epidural until she was 8cm and then she finally got one. She said they told her it would be minutes once she asked and she ended up waiting for an hour!! It was good she got one because thirty minutes later, Parker Matthew was born! He was 9 lbs. and 1.5 ounces, and 20 1/2 inches long.

Parker was born at 12:24. We had gone to the park for lunch after BSF so I was helping Haley and Emy down the slide when I got the message. I was really expecting Carly to have a girl so I was so surprised to hear that she had a boy! The kids went down for naps and I looked at pictures of Parker on facebook and made some cookies and macaroni and cheese because we were headed to the Feenstra's for dinner. We didn't have Wednesday night church this week because it is Easter week and there are already services for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. So the Feenstra's invited a couple families over for a potluck dinner instead. When the girls woke up I showed them pictures of Parker and let them play for a bit while I did random tasks like cleaning blinds. David didn't work at all on Wednesday so he was with us. I think he cleaned out his car. I told him I wanted a clean car to bring the baby home in.
We headed over to the Feenstra's a little before six and had dinner with them, the Yeakley's (a couple, no kids), the Grubbs (another couple no kids), and the Ferguson's (they have a girl who's 2 and a boy who is a couple months old). We had a good time eating and visiting with all of them. After dinner we played a couple games while the kids watched a movie and then we headed home just before ten. The girls were pretty tired so they went right to sleep and I called Mimi and got the story on Parker's first day of life. It made me so excited to have my baby...maybe a little too excited.
Congratulations, Carly and Jonathan! We're glad you're all well.
