Emily sleeps everywhere and Haley makes a friend

Saturday night Emily did us all a favor and slept through the night, it was amazing after Friday night's fiasco.  Haley woke up around 8 and Emily followed soon after around 8:15 or so.  David left for worship team practice at 8:30 and I was on my own to get me and the babies ready for church.  I was a little concerned about Emy because she seemed a little clingy but she ate breakfast while I showered and then played with Haley in Haley's room while I did my hair and make-up.  They are starting to play nicer together although Haley still takes toys from Emy from time to time.

I got the girls dressed and we made it to church on time.  I could tell that Emy was already starting to get tired at 9:30 when we arrived so I cuddled her until the service.  Haley did much better during the worship time this week.  I don't know if you remember last week when she got all hysterical when I wouldn't hold her.  Anyways, this week, before I got her out of her seat from the van I talked to her about how I wasn't going to hold her and she couldn't pitch a fit.  She nodded and said yes ma'am and she must have meant it because she didn't ask at all to be held during the worship time.  In fact, when it was time for the little kids to be dismissed, she went and walked to the back of the room all by herself.  Usually one of us takes her.

As soon as the sermon started I put Emily in her infant seat and gave her a bottle.  She drank most of it and then drifted off to sleep.  She slept through the entire sermon which was so nice because I got to listen and follow along in my Bible without any distractions.  Haley ate two donuts at church, she loves donuts.

After church the Caldwells spontaneously invited us over to their house for lunch.  We ran home first so we would only have to take one car and grabbed some strawberries to contribute.  Haley was so excited when we pulled into the Caldwell's driveway and she was off playing as soon as we stepped foot inside.  I kept Emily in her infant seat to hang out for a while because she was still waking up and seemed a little under the weather.  She must have been feeling a little better because she ate a pretty good lunch.  She had a bunch of applesauce and worked on a couple pieces of watermelon.  Haley ate some strawberries and we convinced her to eat one noodle from her macaroni and cheese.  I guess the two donuts from church filled her up.

When lunch was over we sat and talked at the table and Emily fell asleep in my arms.  She does not do that very often so I decided then that she really must still feel under the weather.  I started to smell something fishy after a bit and it turns out she had a boo leg leak starting.  She was starting to wake up anyways so I changed her diaper and then cuddled with her some more while we kept talking.  At one point Haley come into the living room where we were talking and was fussing about something.  She seemed tired so I asked David what time it was and it was 2:30!  If I was guessing I would have said that it was maybe 1:30, I am really bad at keeping track of time.  Well we obviously headed out and went home and put the girls to bed.

Emily did not take a very good nap, she was awake after an hour and I went in and nursed her and she slept hardly another hour.  When she woke up the second time she was pretty warm and clingy so we gave her some Tylenol.  We waited for Haley to wake up and then we decided to go to the pool at the gym for a swim lesson for Haley.  Emily was starting to perk up and we figured the water might help her feel better.  I know that sounds dumb but Emily loves swimming and I've heard that baths can be soothing so why wouldn't a huge bathtub be extra soothing?  Okay I know, still sounds dumb.

Haley did okay with swimming today.  We worked on swimming underwater and she kind of did it a couple of times.  Emily was happy to be in the pool.  She splashed around and David and I took turns holding her.  We didn't make her swim at all, I didn't want to stress her out or anything.  I think it did help her to be in the pool because her temperature definitely went down.  When we got home  around 6:15 I put Emily down for an 'evening nap' because she seemed tired again.

We had a couple over from church for dinner and games and they arrived at about 6:30.  David put some chicken and asparagus on the grill and I made some baked potatoes in the microwave.  Dave said that they used to make bakes potatoes that way when he worked at Russ's in Michigan and I was skeptical but it did work.  Also, our company (Jenna and Richard) both said that that was how their moms made baked potatoes.  David and Richard went outside to grill and Jenna hung out with me in the kitchen.  Haley walked back and forth between the two groups and finally settled on hanging out with the boys.  She actually kind of attached herself to Richard.  Richard and Jenna are getting married on July 20 so it is fun to hear about all of their wedding details coming together.  We ate dinner and then played a game called 'guillotine' which I won and then after dinner we played a game called 'Pandemic' which is a players vs. board game and we won.  David put Haley to sleep between the games while I threw together a vanilla cake to eat with the rest of our strawberries.  After Pandemic we played a short game that I'm not sure what it's called and Jenna and I each won.

Richard and Jenna headed off a little after ten and Emily was still sleeping.  I guess she decided to go to sleep for the night, it might be an early morning for me tomorrow!

Haleyism:
Richard brought a frisbee along and he and David were throwing it while they waited for the food to finish on the grill.  Haley gave it a go a couple times and she was not very good at it.  Also, Haley kept going up to Richard and saying 'Mr. Richard' followed by a long sentence of jibberish that no one could understand.  Richard said, 'I'm not sure when it happened but I think we are friends!'

Emilyism:
Emily almost started saying 'da-da' super loud during one of the songs at church today, I think she was trying to sing along!

I took this picture of Emily after her nap

This is a good exhibit of her being clingy and also of her fat

I don't think she approves of getting her picture taken
