Friday night was terrible for Emy. She woke up three times between four and five and we finally gave her medicine the third time when we realized she was not hungry and her teeth must hurt her. We were a little disoriented so it took a while to figure it out. After she had her medicine she slept until eight thirty and then cuddled with us and Haley in bed. Haley had come over to our room a little after eight. David and I were still tired so we slept in with those two for a little bit. Emily is not very good at cuddling in the morning though, she gets too excited.
We made some pancakes for breakfast. Haley ate a bunch but Emily only had a couple bites. After breakfast we decided to go to the Smith's to work on swim practice with Haley. We wanted to go before naps because it was supposed to storm later today. The Smith family came out and swam with us for a while so that was fun. Haley was a little distracted by all the activity but she did a lot better at holding her breath under water. She also kicks really well. The key for kids that young in swimming is that they swim underwater, they can't really swim on top. Haley likes to keep her head above water when she's trying to swim but she doesn't mind putting her head underwater if she's blowing bubbles and stuff like that. Carly you should ask you friend her methods, we would some pointers!
I had brought my grocery list along to the pool so when it started raining we headed out and went to Wal-mart to do some grocery shopping. It ended up not raining hard or long at all but I think the girls were done anyways. Emily had been kind of cranky at the pool, still working on her teeth I guess. We were in and out of Wal-mart in under an hour which was pretty good considering it was our major monthly trip.
When we got home we fed the girls and then put them down for naps. Emily was awake after hardly sleeping an hour. I went in and fed her and tried to act like it was the middle of the night and she went back to sleep for another forty-five minutes. Haley was still in a pretty deep sleep and I didn't want her to wake up so I got Emily out of there and held her on our bed. She didn't want to eat, she just wanted me to hold her and cuddle. David brought his sound machine and Emily slept on and off on my chest. It worked out because I was kind of tired and wanted to take a nap myself. Emily was so sweet and so fun to cuddle but she was sweating profusely, it was kind of gross. David went in and woke up Haley around 4:45 because we didn't want her to sleep so late. I got up with Emily a little bit after five because she was awake and just kind of laying on me.
We gave Emily some Tylenol to see if that would help her and took off her clothes to help cool her off but she was still clingy and sad so finally we just put her to bed. David and I were going to a Birthday party for a friend tonight so I went and picked up Ella at 6:45 to baby-sit. Ella had asked if Chloe could come along since they were spending the night together at Chloe's house tonight. It worked out really well because I felt a lot better leaving the girls with two people since Emily was so clingy. Emily was sleeping when we left and Haley was almost happy to see us go I think!
When we got home both of the girls were sleeping and Ella and Chloe said things had gone pretty well. They said Emily woke up and was clingy and sad so they held her and gave her a bottle and then put her back to bed after a while. They said they put Haley to bed around 9:30 and she went right down without any problems. Haley has gotten a lot better about going to sleep for them, I am pretty relieved about that. Let's hope Emy sleeps better tonight, she takes this teething thing pretty hard.
Haleyism:
Haley always dutifully tells us when she has to go potty at the pool. She used the Smith's bathroom three times. Two tinkles and a huge boo. Next time we are bringing the potty along.
Emilyism:
Emily hardly ate anything today, first day ever, haha.
| Haley pretending to be a baby, odd I know. Notice the lady bug painted on her face, they had free face painting at Wal-mart today, random! |
