Haley hates bugs

TUESDAY David had to work for the first part of the day so it was just the girls and I.  Haley has been waking up around 7:15 lately, it feels pretty early compared to Emy's post eight wake-up times.  Tuesday she wanted a waffle right away so I gave her that and left the washcloth next to her so she could wipe off her hands afterwards (she doesn't like to be sticky) and then I went back to bed.  Haley came and cuddled with me when she was finished eating and we both slept in until Emy woke up at 8:30, it was pretty nice.

After breakfast I put both of the girls in the shower with me and they played in the bottom while I showered and then I filled up the tub a little bit for them to play while I did my hair and make-up.  When we got out of the tub I saw that there was a bug underneath Emy's high chair.  I thought it looked like a roach so I went and grabbed our Home Defense spray but after I sprayed it once it jumped at me and I realized it was a cricket, oops.  I may or may not have let out a little shriek when it jumped at me and Haley was standing next to me and she screamed and ran to the den crying.  Well after that we spent most of the day talking about the traumatic bug experience.  Haley kept talking about how it jumped and I told her it wouldn't hurt her and she kept repeating that it wasn't going to hurt her as if to convince herself.  I actually left it because I figured David would get it when he got home.

Around 10 we headed to Fellowship Bible Church to set up a MOPS table for publicity since they have VBS going on this week.  I put Emily in the umbrella stroller and we were in and out of there pretty quick.  When we got home the first thing Haley saw was that dumb bug, she covered her face with her hands and started crying.  It's like she couldn't even bring herself to look at it.  We ate lunch and then packed up again to go to the splash pad.  Amanda was going to be there with her girls and my other friend Libby with her daughter Ruthie and her son Jude.  Despite all of these wonderful playmates that are exactly Haley's age, she spent most of the time at the splash pad playing with two random stranger girls that looked like they were maybe seven or eight.  They carried her buckets around for her and helped her fill them up.  Haley was obviously enjoying their services, I could see them always leaning down real close to her so they could hear what she was telling them, I'm sure she was giving them orders.  We only stayed a little over an hour because then it was time for naps.

When we got home Haley would not come into the house because of the bug.  Emily had fallen asleep on the way so I put her in her crib and then came back to get Haley who was standing on the porch crying and covering her face.  She had taken a couple steps back and with her free hand she was pointing at the carcass of a June bug on the porch, I'm sure she felt like she was surrounded by scary bugs, haha.  I grabbed her and put her down for a nap and she slept two and a half hours.  David got home while they were napping and kicked the June bug off the porch and threw the cricket in the trash can.  He probably should have done it with Haley as his witness because when she woke up she was confused about the cricket being in the trash can and kept asking to see it, oh my.  Emily woke up about thirty minutes later and we all loaded in the van and drove to Hallsville to unload the rest of our storage unit.  We got about half of the remaining things and brought it home and then David went back to get the rest while I made dinner.  When he got home we ate dinner and then went outside and went through a lot of the stuff while Emy played in the exersaucer and Haley played with her outside toys.  We didn't find anything else too exciting but we definitely have plenty of stuff for a yard sale on Saturday!

David and I put the girls down for an early bedtime and they went right to sleep.  I figured that we might as well put Haley to bed early since she is getting up early anyways!

Haleyism:
When we got to the splash pad Haley walked right up to Amanda and started talking about the bug: "bug won't hurt you, bug jumps!"  Amanda was pretty confused until I explained the story to her.

Emilyism:
Emily loved the splash pad!  She spent the majority of the time sitting by one of the lower sprinklers and hitting at the water.

Haley in our newest storage unit, we had taken some stuff out at this point.  She is saying, please buy this stuff so I can see my Aunt Rin when she comes home!
