A busy weekend

This past weekend was super busy.  FRIDAY was our last full day with Mimi and Pops.  We woke up and got dressed and showered right away so we would be ready for Mimi and Pops once they arrived.  Haley waited at the window once I told her they were on their way, she was so excited to see them.  Mimi and Pops played with Haley and Emily for a while and then I put Emily down for a morning nap.  Pops went to the LeTourneau chapel service while Mom and I went shopping with Haley.  We went to Dillards to take back some flower girl dresses (thumbs down from Aunt Rin :) and then we went to Burlington Coat Factory to look around.  Burlington has a surprisingly large selection of baby clothing and baby gear in general.  Haley thought it would be fun to run away from me in the store.  She soon learned it was not so fun.  I told her she needed to stay close to me or she was going to get a spanking and she made me hold her the rest of the time, not really what I had in mind.

After Burlington we came home and I made BLTs for lunch.  Then we put Haley down for a nap, this was about ten minutes after Emily woke up from her nap.  I love Emily to take a morning nap and an afternoon nap but that means that she and Haley don't sleep at the same time.  Mom said I just need to shorten Emily's morning nap and wake her up after an hour or so.  Seeing as I spend a large part of my time putting babies to sleep, waking them up just goes against every fiber of my being.  Pop and David went to go visit the city sewer authority to talk about hooking up our sewer to the city.  Pops had offered to go along with David since he knows quite a bit on the subject and David said he was really glad he had him along.  They still have to figure out a bunch of stuff but it was a good start.

After a bit I put Emily down for her second nap and then Mom and I went to run a few errands.  When we came back we got Emily up and headed out for dinner.  Mom's favorite place in town is Cowboy Chicken and it's definitely up in my top five probably so we headed there.  The atmosphere is pretty low key so it was a perfect place for Haley and Emily.  Emily ate some pieces of roll and a couple pieces of squash.  Haley ate some rolls and a bit of corn fritter.  After Cowboy Chicken we went to the Yogurt Bar which is in the same strip mall.  I think Haley filled up most of her stomach there.

Haley and Emily were not up too much longer once we got home.  Pops read a few books to Haley and then we put them to sleep.  Then we pulled out Settlers and Ticket to Ride.  Pops won Settlers, and David and I each won one of the two games we played of Ticket to Ride.

SATURDAY was a sad day because Mimi and Pops headed out.  Emily tried to cheer everyone up by sleeping through until 8:30, I know it made me happier.  We had about an hour to hang out with Mimi and Pops in the morning before we had to leave for the airport.  David was already at the LU airport (across the field from the Longview airport) with a bunch of LeTourneau alumni for alumni weekend so he just met us there.  We were so sad to see Mimi and Pops leave, I really felt like they had only just arrived the time went so fast.

The rest of the day was booked with alumni weekend stuff.  This year was the 50th reunion of LAS, David's society house from college, so we did a lot of the events they had planned.  First we met up with a bunch of the people at the airport, then we went to the LAS house where they lived, and then we went to the Kilgore airport for lunch.  Emily slept in the car rides and Haley just skipped her naps all together.  If there was one person in our family more excited than Dave about all the activity, it would have to be Haley.  She could hardly contain herself with all of the airplanes she was seeing.  She kept asking if she could go touch the airplanes and then she would go over and touch them like she was petting a horse or something.

We stayed at the Kilgore airport for a while and then headed home.  Austin and Sarah Mertz drove into town in the morning and were staying with us overnight until Sunday so they also came home with us.  Austin was David's roommate in college and they live in Dallas now.  Haley and Emily both fell asleep on the way home from the Kilgore airport but it's only about a fifteen minute drive.  Emily must have thought she slept for hours because she was wide awake.  We sat outside with the Mertzs at the picnic table while Haley played with her riding toys and Emily jumped around in her exersaucer.

Around five forty-five we fed Haley and started getting ready for the LAS banquet at 7.  I went and picked up Chloe, a girl from our church to baby-sit.  We put Emily to sleep before we left and Haley seemed about ready to drop so we told Chloe to put her down as soon as she finished eating.  The banquet was supposed to go from 7 to 9 but we were not heading home until 11:15!  I had texted Chloe as the evening went on because it was becoming obvious that we were not going to be home by then when I had told her.  When we finally got home Chloe reported that Haley had just gone to sleep about thirty minutes before!!!!!  Apparently Chloe just kept trying to put her down over and over again and Haley just kept crying.  She was probably just so tired that she may have needed to cry for a little bit but it kept waking Emily up.  Emily woke up two times and Chloe had to give her a bottle.  I felt so bad because I really thought it was going to be a super easy night for her and it sounded awful.  David paid her a little extra so hopefully that made up for it!

I was going to post for today too but Dave has a super early flight tomorrow so we're going to bed!

Haleyism:
Haley must have been getting tired during the lunch at the airport because she had two incidents where she went up to random people and hugged their legs, haha.

Emilyism:
Roger Carr, an old LU professor that Dad probably knows, came up to Emily and said she was a beautiful baby.

Davidism:
Saturday night at the banquet they had a LAS quiz at each place for the alumni to take.  They said that any alumni that could recite the third chapter of James could have a bonus point.  All of the LAS members have to memorize James 3 as part of the pledging process, in the Old King James Version.  David went up to the front and said the whole thing through without a hitch, he was the only member who did it!

A picture with Mimi and Pops before they left.  Emily looks a little crazy

Find David

Do you see him?

Dad do you recognize any of those people?

Hanging out

These were all of the members from 2000 on
