Wednesday and Thursday felt like very normal days for us. David basically worked 8 - 6 both days so it was we got a taste of what it would be like if he had a normal job. Wednesday was BSF. I
got up before the girls and got all ready to go and then I got those two
up. I feel like I did exactly what we do
every Wednesday morning but for some reason we were running late. It was raining outside and I guess that made
everyone else late too because when I pulled in there were a bunch of other people
just arriving. When I went to pick up
the girls after Bible study Emily was sleeping.
The volunteer had just gotten her to sleep and you could tell it was
killing her to hand Emily over and wake her up after all her hard work! Haley’s teacher told me that she did really
well in class so that was good news after yesterday’s embarrassment.
I got lunch out when we got home and then the girls played for
a while before going down for naps. They
both get in the best moods right before naps, I think they’re trying to hold me
off. Emily had been in the exersaucer
for probably thirty minutes and was still going strong when I decided to just
put them down. Both of them went to
sleep right away and both of them ended up sleeping three hours! It was still overcast so I think the darker
room may have helped extend their naps.
Haley woke up first and she “helped” me finish folding laundry until
Emily woke up. Then I had her help me
carry the laundry to the rooms and put it away.
She is most helpful when she is carrying socks. Anything else she helps with tends to get
unfolded.
When Emily woke up I set her up in the Johnny Jump up in the
kitchen while I worked on my potluck contribution for church. Then we loaded up and headed over to
church. David went right to church from
work so Haley was pretty excited when he walked in. Haley did really well at Missio Dei, she
doesn’t cry when we drop her off anymore.
Emily was in rare form. I had her
in with the adults for the first part and she was smiling and laughing at
anyone who would give her eye contact.
Finally I took her out because honestly, she was just laughing too
loud. I gave her to the baby-sitters who
were with Haley and they said she did well the rest of the time. Afterwards everyone was saying that she was
the happiest baby they’ve ever seen.
After church we came home and put the girls to bed. They were so tired and went down right away.
Today we had women’s Bible study at our house this
morning. David left around 8:30 to go
fly and neither of the girls were awake so they didn’t get to say goodbye. Haley didn’t wake up until 9 and Emily wasn’t
up until around 9:15. Basically they
decided to wake up as soon as people were getting here. We had our study in the living room and the
kids played in the den mostly. We had to
break up a couple squabbles but nothing major.
I put on the Dora movie for them after a while and that kept them quiet
basically until the end.
After everyone left I fed the girls lunch and then we played
in the den. I read Haley a bunch of
books and Emily played in her exersaucer.
Haley loves books and she can recite most of her favorites. When I read to her I will pause at places and
she fills in the missing word. For
example, I will say: “Here is baby’s…” and she will say ‘cup!’ After a bit I put the girls down for
naps. Haley slept two hours and Emily
slept about two and a half. I put Emily
in her Johnny Jump up in the kitchen so I could make dinner. Haley ate a snack at the table. Then I started changing out their winter
clothes for summer clothes in their room.
I looked at the forecast and it looks like today is going to be the last
cold day for a while. Tomorrow is
supposed to be 75 and then it only goes up from there! Around five I put dinner in the oven and then
we headed out to the gym. When I picked
them up forty-five minutes later, Haley was playing babies with another little
girl. As we were leaving she said, “bye
Chloe!” The girl’s name was Lana but she
did have blonde hair like Haley’s friend Chloe.
When we got home we saw that David was home! We grabbed dinner out of the oven and started
eating as soon as the girls were done giving him hugs. David is pretty rough with the girls but I
remember Corinne saying that she learned in one of her childhood development
classes that it is good for Dads to be rough with their kids. Anyways, I think Haley shares my opinion
because she often says “be careful Daddy” when he is playing with Emily. Emily got so nasty from her broccoli dinner
that we decided to give them baths.
After baths we put them in their pajamas and put them right to bed. They were tired because they went right to
sleep. Well, first Haley suckered daddy
into feeding her some applesauce, then she went right down.
Haleyism:
Haley loves to try and talk in sentences but half of the words she uses are not real words so she is pretty hard to understand. It doesn't help that she mixes her Spanish and English. She is teaching me the extreme importance of context.
Emilyism:
Emily loves baths, see the video below:

Haley loves to climb in with Emily after Emily wakes up. She always asks for her paci of course.
Haley is so much darker than Emily but their features are so similar!

She was happy to have one
