SUNDAY David and I got up a little earlier than usual and made pancakes and bacon for breakfast for us and the Mertz's. Austin and Sarah headed out just as we were leaving for church. Emily did really well during the church service, I didn't ever have to stand in the back or anything. She didn't fall asleep but she kept busy chewing on her shoe for most of the sermon. After church a family invited us to lunch with them at a sandwich place called Jason's Deli. Haley was pretty tired but we decided to take the risk. I'm really glad we did because Haley ended up doing really well, with a little help from the Ipad. Emily fell asleep on the way to the restaurant and slept through most of our lunch. We ended up staying out until 2:15 so as soon as we got home we put the girls down for naps. Emily was still a little peppy from her snooze at the restaurant so she rolled around and played in her crib for a good thirty minutes before finally dozing off.
We ended up having to wake up both girls so we could be in time for a cook-out the Creeches were hosting. They invited the Smiths and us over for burgers and a bocce ball tournament. It was such a beautiful day, about 80 degrees and just a little breezey. We brought a ball for Haley to play with and a Dora doll that Austin and Sarah had brought for her for her Birthday. The Creechs have a hammock and Emily and Haley loved to swing in it. Leeland took a turn in there with them too but he kind of made it lopsided, he weighs more than both of them combined. The Smiths ended up winning the bocce ball tournament but David and I were a close second. The girls were doing really well so we ended up staying until just after nine. We put them to bed as soon as we got home and they both went right down.
Today was the traditional cleaning and laundry day. Lucy arrived around 9:30 and she and Haley got started on playing right away. They actually played super nicely together for most of the day. They did have a few incidents though. The first one was when Emily was eating cheerios in her Bumbo and she started fussing and I told Haley and Lucy to give her more. I was dusting in the other room and I could hear the girls in there talking and sounding like they were having a good time. Almost too good of a time. I went into the kitchen and Haley and Lucy had given Emily more cheerios, almost all of the cheerios. They were spreading them all over the table and making a huge mess. They were not trying to hide it or anything so I figured they were just being little girls. I wasn't too mad because I hadn't mopped the kitchen yet but there were cheerios everywhere. The second incident was quite simple. Lucy used the little portable potty and Haley closed the lid and then attempted to pick up the potty. I'm not completely sure if that is how it happened but based on the pee all over that potty, that's what I think happened. I do know that Lucy did the peeing and Haley did the carrying. It was gross. Besides that there were just a couple times when Lucy and Haley were playing and randomly decided to strip down to their bare bottoms. I just don't like the idea of two freshly potty-trained bottoms crawling around our furniture.
Amanda offered to make us dinner and I offered for them to eat it here with us so she and the rest of the family came around 5:30. We ate and then they headed out and I took the girls outside to play until David's men's group came. Then I gave the girls baths and put Emily to bed. Haley was hungry so I made her a grilled cheese sandwich. She at the WHOLE thing. Yes, the whole thing, four quarters, two halves, one whole, you know. Then she asked for more so I gave her a cookie and she ate half of that. Then I put her to bed.
Haleyism:
Haley was watching Emily splash around in the tub and she said, 'Emily is just so so cute." It was so so cute.
Emilyism:
Emily loves dogs. The Creechs have dogs and Haley was shrieking at them a lot.
