A day wiping bottoms

Sunday night Emily only woke up once.  I fed her a bunch of applesauce right before bed so I think I'm going to be doing that every night now.  Her first stretch was seven hours!  I had to get up around 8 to shower and get ready to take Emily to the doctor for a shot appointment.  David would have slept in with Haley except Haley woke up just before my alarm went off and then was wide awake once I woke up.  Actually, funny story:  We were all three laying in our bed and my alarm went off and I turned it off.  Haley's head popped off the pillow and she looked at me and said, "oh my WORD!"  As if my alarm was super offensive or something.

When Emily and I left around 9, David and Haley were getting dressed and about to start breakfast.  Shot appointments don't take very long so we were only gone about thirty minutes.  Emily cried a little bit for her shot but not too bad.  When we got home Amanda was just dropping off Lucy and Haley was eating shredded cheese for breakfast.  David claimed she wouldn't eat anything else.  After breakfast Haley and Lucy played in the den and spent most of the morning taking turns on the potty.  They each went five times before lunch (ten bottoms wiped folks) and everytime it was together.  I would put Lucy on the potty, wipe her, take her off, and then Haley would go and we'd do the same thing.  At one point Lucy was on the potty and Haley was playing in the den and she came running into the bathroom, practically breathless.  She pointed towards the door and said, 'pooh pooh potty' repeatedly.  I was sure she was going to take me to the scene of an accident but instead she took me to her little potty where she had peed and booed!  I didn't even know she could pull her panties down.  We were pretty excited about that one.  While the girls played I cleaned and Emily slept and David worked on the septic.

David made grilled cheese for lunch and I cut up some apples and carrot sticks.  We really should not have done anything because I'm pretty sure 90% of what those girls ate were chips.  After lunch Lucy and Haley played some more before naps.  Their post-lunch and pre-nap bathroom count was 2 each.  Emily had applesauce for lunch.  She eats best in her bouncer seat, something about that bumbo seat just lends itself to flailing arms and spitting.  I had all of the kids sleeping by 1:30 so I worked on sweeping and mopping the floors and David ran by the airport and then went and visited Ray in hospice.  Amanda came around 4 with Evelyn to pick up Lucy but she was still sleeping as usual!  They stayed and played for a while.

At dinnertime David made spaghetti while I vacuumed.  I had given him the option of which task and he chose dinner, he likes to cook which is so nice!  Haley did not want to eat the spaghetti sauce at dinner.  She ate some of her garlic bread and a bunch of dry noodles.  I guess she is planning on running a marathon tomorrow.  After dinner we cleaned up and then the girls and I headed to the gym.  Dave was having the men from church over to our house for prayer meeting at 7:30 so we wanted to be gone for some of it.  Haley was out of clean underwear (today was laundry day and their's wasn't finished) so she wore a pull-up. It was a good thing she did because it was wet when I picked her up, although the worker did say she had gone once.

When we got home we snuck back to Haley's room and I changed the girls into their pajamas and fed them some applesauce.  Then I read them some books and put them to bed.  Haley woke up a couple times after I had put her down.  The first time she had to use the bathroom (legit, she did actually go) and the second time she was asking me to read her 'mono book.'  Mono is Spanish for monkey which means she was asking me to read her big thick anthology on Curious George, she knows what book will keep her up the longest!  I rocked her for a little bit instead because I couldn't get the book because it would disturb the men and I can't really resist her.

Haleyism:
At dinner David prayed and when he was finished Haley asked to sing a prayer.  I'm not sure what words she used but I knew that was what she was asking.  I think she must have picked this up from the Caldwells because they always sing to pray for meals.  Anyways, I taught her the one that cousin Calla used to sing to the tune of Frere Jacques.  It works out because that's pretty much her favorite tune.  Also, Haley now requests that we sing 'Happy Birthday' to not only objects, but to events.  For example, today she asked David to sing Happy Birthday to 'pooh pooh on the potty.'  Haha.

Emilyism:
Emily definitely knows her name.  Today she was breastfeeding and I was talking to Haley and I said Emily's name and she immediately pulled off and looked up at me!

Haley loves to sit like this on Daddy's chair

  1. Way to go Emily with sleeping so long! I need to try the applesauce trick.
I was thinking Haley looked big in the picture sitting on Dave's chair. But then she looked so tiny jumping on the couch!!
