Mid-week catch-up

Wednesday was a busy day for us.  It started with Bible study fellowship which involved me and both of the girls.  They both seemed okay when I dropped them off but I warned Emily's teachers that she would probably want to nap after thirty minutes or so.  Well, I ended up getting called out for the first time at BSF! I was kind of surprised since I fed her before we left.  When I got there Emily was asleep and the lady holding Emily said she had just fallen asleep.  Apparently she had been crying pretty hard so they called me and as soon as they did she fell asleep.  She must have been pretty upset for them to call me because they hardly ever call anyone out.  I haven't ever been called out for Haley, even last year!

After BSF we came home and David had just gotten in from the gym.  We decided to go out and run a few errands before naptime.  First we went to Bed Bath and Beyond to look for a little stool for Haley to use for potty training.  We didn't find one but we weren't deterred since it was our first place to look.  Then we went to Big Lots to look around and buy some juice boxes for potty training.  I just heard about Big Lots at our MOPS meeting last week.  One of the moms was telling me she buys her juice boxes there, haha, random.  They had a lot of stuff including a toy organizing thing that we had just bought at Target.  The only difference was that this one was about $20 cheaper.  We decided not to get it right away in case David could make one.

After Big Lots we went home and put the girls down for naps.  Haley had a hard time going to bed for whatever reason.  I ended up pulling Emily out of there and putting her to sleep in the swing.  While they slept I got out all of the toys and clothes to send to Aunt Rin and Africa.  We started packing those up and making dinner.  When Haley woke up we got ready to go to church and then headed out.

The church potluck Wednesday night was so good, somebody even brought a party platter of Chick-fil-A nuggets, yum.  I stayed with Haley's class during the meeting hour because I've never done it and I felt like it was my turn.  I had Evelyn, Lucy, Haley and Emily and two other three year old boys.  They played with toys the whole time and then we cleaned up the toys at the end and played duck-duck-goose until the others were done meeting.  Haley and Lucy definitely did not understand the concept of duck-duck-goose.  They stood up and ran regardless of whether they had been goosed or not.  After church we came home and put the girls to bed and packed up the rest of the boxes for Uganda.

I did a photo shoot of Emily and Haley after BSF because they were wearing matching outfits

Emily was a little wary at first

Haley knows exactly what to do!

Daddy was making them smile

Haley started to get sleepy

Emily having some couch tummy time

Which always makes Haley want to ride her

She doesn't seem to mind

Okay yeah, this is when we intervened

THURSDAY we had women's Bible study at our house.  David left in the morning to meet with a men's accountability group he's in.  Haley and Emily were still sleeping when people started to arrive.  I ended up just getting them dressed and fed as they woke up.  Haley was excited to see Evelyn and Lucy again, they played super nice for most of the morning.  Our Bible study is working through the book One Thousand Gifts, it's pretty good.  After Bible study David came home and we decided to run out and do some errands again before naps.

First we went to Lowe's to look at the price of wood for David to build a step stool or toy shelf.  It is definitely cheaper to just buy the product in this case.  We did buy a shelf for the laundry room for storage.  Then we went to Hobby Lobby to look for a pre-made wood stool that we could maybe just paint.  They had a bunch of them but none of them were what we had in mind.  Finally we ran by Big Lots to pick up the toy shelf we had seen yesterday and then we went home for naps.

Haley went right down for a nap and Emily had been sleeping during the errands so she stayed up for a while and then I put her to sleep in the swing.  David put the toy shelf together and it looks great.  Here is a picture of the finished product:

Isn't it great?!
While David worked on the toy shelf, I took all of our packages to the post office to send to Aunt Rin.  I actually sent two packages to Mom to pack in her suitcase when she and Dad visit Rin in February.  Be on the lookout for four boxes Rin, the Post Office guy said it would be at least two weeks.  I was so glad that I had just gone to the Post Office by myself, that would have been a bad errand to do as a family.  Haley would have had a hay day in there with all of the envelopes and papers and everything within easy reach.

After the Post Office I came home and Daddy and Haley were playing, he said she woke up just after I left.  I made some cookies for dessert for dinner and then we all hung out for a bit before heading out.  We had been invited to eat at the Black's house, a family we know through women's Bible study and a through a ministry in town that David has recently started getting involved in.  They had invited us and two other families to have pizza at their house.  They have a little girl named Ruthie who is a couple months older than Haley and a little boy named Jude who is a month younger than Emily.  One of the other families has a little boy who will be two in May (like Clark!) and one on the way in April and the last family is pregnant with their due in April.  We do not usually hang out with these families and they don't go to our church but it was fun to talk with them and watch the kids play.

Ruthie and Whitley (the little boy Clark's age) are both pretty easy going so Haley had a good time playing with them.  All of them were first borns so they did have a little bit of trouble sharing at first.  Emily got tired towards the end so I had to use David's phone's sound machine app to help her go to sleep.  She was starting to get worked up but as soon as I put that in her ear, she calmed down.  We left just before nine and Haley was so ready for bed.  She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.  Literally, I watched her eyes close and everything!

 Haleyism:
Today David was laying in the middle of the floor and Haley wanted to get by and she said 'move daddy!'  We are working on her manners now.

Emilyism:
Emily can be such a wimp sometimes but she is always super tough when it comes to Haley.  Haley can sit on her, lay on her, practically bounce on her and it doesn't bother Emily at all.

Haley at lunch, random picture Daddy

Emily likes to be upside down, no joke!

The Black's kitchen table is made out of one of those big wooden spools that you see on the back of big eighteen wheelers.  They got one from a local business for free and had glass made for on top of it.  It's pretty cool.

This picture starts a progression of Haley trying to hold Emily

Don't lift with your back Haley!

She had to roll her onto her lap, this is as good as it gets though, haha

  1. I do not think I have ever held Ellie upside-down. Maybe I will with baby #2.
The second picture in their matching outfits is adorable! I see Emily's eyes are still blue - I wonder if they'll stay that way!
