We start potty training...again

Thursday night Emily woke up and I was pretty tired and ended up bringing her back to bed with us.  She slept the rest of the night without getting fed.  I'm not sure why she wakes up at night but it is not to eat.  Haley slept through the night without any problems and actually slept in until 9:15.  At ten Haley, Emily and I went to a MOPS event at a place called 'Pump it Up.'  It's basically a huge room full of those blow-up toys that people rent for events.  Haley took a while to warm-up to the idea but eventually she was jumping around like everyone else.  Her favorite one was a big obstacle course thing that was really for big kids.  She like that one way better than the little kids bounce house, she thinks she's a big kid.  She couldn't even make it through the whole thing, people had to help her up the wall part before the slide.  I had Emily in the bjorn for most of the time we were there which was kind of a bummer for Haley I think because she probably would have had more fun if I could have helped her do some of the harder things.  We are going to go back sometime with David.  Actually, we should go back everyday because children under 2 were free so we didn't have to pay a cent!  I asked the lady if we could just come everyday for free and she said 'sure!'

We were at Pump it Up for about an hour and a half and then we headed to Chick-fil-A with the rest of the group for lunch.  David bought me a Chick-fil-A gift card for my Birthday so that I can go out on outings like this and it doesn't have to be part of the budget.  I had a coupon for a free sandwich from the Chick-fil-A calendar so all I had to put on the gift card was fries.  It ended up being a little bit more difficult than that because my gift card would not work.  They ended up just giving me the fries which was really nice and then David called the number on the back of the card later and they told him how to fix it.  The Caldwell's had gone to Pump it Up with us and sat with us at Chick-fil-A.  Emily fell asleep in her infant seat while we were there so it was nice to be able to eat in peace.

While we were at Chick-fil-a, Haley told me she had to poo-poo on the potty.  I took her back to the bathroom but she didn't do anything.  I was going to start potty training tomorrow but I decided I might as well start it today after she asked to go.  When we got home I put Emily to bed and got out Haley's Dora panties and her potty.  I did a couple demonstrations with her doll and a bath toy behind her.  I showed her how accidents were bad and you are supposed to go on the potty.  She hadn't drank too much at Chick-fil-A so she didn't go in the time before her nap.  I kept her in her panties for her nap and put an absorbent pad on her bed.  They gave me a bunch of those at the hospital when I had Emily, I guess they thought I would wet the bed when I got home?  Anyways, I kept them thinking that they may be handy for potty training.  It worked out well because Haley did end up peeing her panties during her nap.  She woke up after just under two hours so I'm not sure if she woke up peeing or went in her sleep.

After her nap we basically spent the rest of the afternoon working on potty training.  We had to run some errands so I put a towel in her carseat but she didn't end up going at all.  I ran into an estate sale to see something and then we ran by Walgreens to pick up Haley's eczema lotion.  Walgreens is the only place that sells it!  When we got home we gave her some juice boxes and salty snacks to try to get her to pee.  Her first attempt was a success!  She asked to go to the potty and went boo boo, we were pretty excited.  It pretty much went downhill from there though.  About five minutes after her boo she peed in the den and then ended up having at least five or six more accidents in random parts of the house (kitchen, dining room, den, etc.).  She was starting to get it by the end though.  She would tell us poo poo potty as she started going so the last couple times we actually got some in the potty.

Leeland and Kinsley came over this evening while Meagan and Weston went on a date so that was fun.  Kinsley drank her bottle and then took a nap in Emily's crib.  Leeland and Haley played pretty nicely for most of the evening.  Leeland didn't seem phased by Haley walking around in merely a shirt and panties.  She had a couple accidents while they were here.  Leeland is a couple weeks into potty training so he's pretty good already.  We just sat him on the potty at one point and he went pretty much right away.

After Leeland and Kinsley left we gave Haley another juice box and then sat her on the potty while she watched the Ipad.  She ended up going twice while she was sitting there so hopefully that helped her get the idea too.  I put a diaper on her for bed and a couple seconds later she was saying 'poo poo potty' so I took her and she had just finished going in her diaper.  She says poo poo potty regardless of whether it's boo or pee.  She and Emily went to bed fairly easily.

Haleyism:
There was a Little Tykes red car at the Pump it Up place today and Haley really wanted it which is odd since she has one at home.  Anyways, she waited for a chance to get in and then hogged it for a long time.  She would start to get tired of it and get out but then a bunch of kids would start to run over and she'd jump in again and get a wild look her in eyes, it just got my funny bone.

Emilyism:
Emily took pitiful naps today and ate all the time, I think a growth spurt is in session!

Terrible picture of Haley jumping

Haley the car hog

Haley and Leeland playing with beans

They played with these for a long time

David playing with Emily

I would strongly object to the whole upside down thing except Emily seems to love it

She never stays upside down too long though because David's arms get tired!

Sitting on the potty and watching Elmo

I was really afraid she was going to pee in there, she didn't.

I love her hands on her knees

Leeland taking a turn

Jumping around and then staring at people, awkward Haley.

  1. The video is hilarious because she's staring at people while standing in the most inconvenient spot and she's oblivious to it. Ha!
Good luck with the potty training!!!
