We left for the airport at around 2:30 pm. Abuelito drove and Sarah and Chris came along for the ride. I had waited to put Haley down for a nap so that she could sleep in the car and it ended up working out really great. She fell asleep a couple minutes into the drive and ended up sleeping about two hours. Emily outdid her by falling asleep about fifteen minutes into our drive and then sleeping the rest of the way! She didn't wake up until we were in line to check our luggage. We didn't end up hitting any traffic and we reached the airport in plenty of time. We had left a little early in case the weather was bad but it wasn't.
The line at check-out was not super long but I did end up having to feed Emily when she woke up. I just held her with my hider blanket and then David had to push both strollers and pull all four suitcases along anytime the line moved forward. I felt kind of bad for him, but not bad enough to not laugh watching him! When we made it to the front the lady declared that she needed identification for both Haley and Emily. We had Haley's shot record along but I figured we wouldn't need anything for Emily because she is obviously not near two years old. The lady was super nice, but she did insist that she needed to see something proving Emily's birthdate. I asked if we could pull something up on David's phone and she said that would be fine. I pulled up the patient portal from our doctor's office but they only had Haley's shot record on there, I guess they didn't add Emily on there automatically. I did a search in our gmail account using Emily's name and an email popped up that David had sent with Emily's name and birth statistics (6 lb 2 oz. 11:41 am, etc.). Anyways, it happened to have the date of the email at the top and he had sent it on Sept. 5th (Emily's birthday) so the lady said that was good enough. I was hoping she wasn't looking too close to see that it was just a random email but I got the feeling she just wanted us to show her anything.
Security went quickly because they let us go through the fast line. When we got through we stopped by McDonald's to get some dinner and then went to our gate and ate and waited to get on the plane. I changed Emily into her pajamas too. The first flight was only 45 minutes to St. Louis. Emily slept most of the flight but Haley stayed awake the whole time. We got off in St. Louis and walked two gates over to our connecting flight to Dallas. David barely had time to use the bathroom before we were boarding again. The second flight was an hour and a half; Emily slept the whole time and Haley did not sleep a wink. It wasn't too inconvenient because it wasn't like Haley was crying or anything, she just wasn't sleeping. Neither of the flights were full so Haley always had her own seat.
When we landed in Dallas David got our luggage while I fed Emily and changed the girl's diapers. Then we went outside where Austin was just driving by with the van. He had been circling until we got out and when we stepped out he was right there! He jumped out and helped us load our suitcases and strollers and then we said a quick good-bye and headed out. Sarah had also been circling with their car so we didn't even have to take them home! Haley and Emily fell asleep about two minutes into the car ride. David and I talked the whole way home and we were both kind of surprised at how fast it went, a little over two hours. When we got home I moved Haley to her bed and then we went to bed, it was about 1:45.
FRIDAY morning I had to get up for a MOPS steering team meeting. David didn't have to work so I fed Emily before I left and kept the girls with him. The meeting last a little over an hour and I was home in an hour and a half. When I walked in the door, Haley was eating a poptart at the table and David was holding Emily in bed, he said they had just kind of woken up.
We had a pretty slow day of unpacking and playing with toys. David and I unpacked and Haley played with toys. Haley was pretty excited to see that Daniel was at our house. Daniel is staying with us until he leaves for a missions trip to Uganda next Sunday. She spent a lot of time showing him her toys and having him read to her. At one point I went to the den and she had suckered him into showing her Elmo videos on his new tablet he got from Aunt Rin for Christmas. Emily got tired just before lunch so I put her to bed and ended up falling asleep while I was feeding her. While I was gone David took Haley to Wal-mart to pick up some bread, milk, and cheese for lunch.
After lunch the girls went down for a nap and David, Daniel, and I played Settlers. David is pretty hooked I think. He had the game out as soon as I finished the lunch dishes. I won but it was pretty close. After naps David and I took the girls grocery shopping. We went to Kroger first and then to Wal-mart. The Tasty Kakes were buy one get one free at Kroger so we bought two packages of Butterscotch Krimpets. David is now hooked. Haley was getting cranky on the way to Wal-mart so we ended up breaking out a package and letting her eat them while we were shopping in Wal-mart.
When we got home from grocery shopping I made some spaghetti for dinner while David unpacked the groceries. Haley ate pretty good at dinner, she has been doing better with eating lately I think. After dinner we gave the girls baths and then put them to bed. Haley loves being in the bathtub, she was all pruney by the time she got out.
Haleyism:
David took Haley to the cookie place at Wal-mart and there was a nice little Asian lady behind the counter. She gave Haley two cookies and Haley said 'thank you' and 'I love you.' I guess the lady was pretty touched because she came out from behind the counter, opened a brand new package of cookies that you usually have to pay for, and gave Haley three more cookies! So Haley ate five cookies right before lunch.
