Potty training is not fun

Saturday the girls slept in until a little after nine and then we got up and going for the day.  Haley had already booed her diaper when she woke up so we didn't have to think about having any gross accidents so that worked out.  David went out to work in the yard almost right away and the girls and I ate breakfast and got ready for a MOPS meeting at ten.  Our finance coordinator moved away so the new girl who volunteered for the job came to collect the notebook for it and go over the material.  I really didn't know much about what she needed to do so I was hoping that she wouldn't have many questions and she didn't so that worked out.  She has two kids eighteen months apart.  The first is a boy, Ethan, who is just over two and the second is a little girl, Elise, who is about seven months old.  I was hoping Haley would play nicely with Ethan but instead she spent most of the time trying to hug Elise.  I had to keep her away from her most of the time because Elise, though almost bigger than Haley, did not enjoy her hugs.

Haley had two accidents while our company was here.  Both of them were performed about a foot away from her potty so I pulled her onto the potty and she finished there on both occasions.  Crystal, the girl, was super understanding about the whole thing which was really nice.  She said that she had tried potty training Ethan a couple months back and it really did not go well so they're waiting for a while until they try again.  I know exactly how she feels!  Crystal and her kids left after a little over an hour.  I spent the rest of the morning giving Haley juice boxes and trying to get her to go potty.  I can't remember the exact number of misses and victories but I do know that every victory she did have was made while she was already sitting on the potty and watching something on the Ipad.  She is getting good at communicating when she has to go, she usually says 'poo poo potty' just as she is starting to pee.  One time she even half stopped peeing until she was on the toilet where she finished.

Emily was extremely accommodating for the day, she slept for almost four hours in the afternoon.  Haley slept just under three hours and woke up with pee and boo boo, oh my.  I talked to Carly later in the afternoon and she told me that babies take a while to learn to hold it while they sleep so Haley is going back to wearing diapers during naps.  It was a little much to clean up boo and pee, even with a pad on the bed.  I gave Haley a snack after her nap and then I sat her on the potty to wait for her to pee so we could run to the grocery store.  We figured we would have her pee before we left because then she would have less of a chance of wetting herself while we were out.  That ended up being quite the challenge because despite a bag of chips and a bunch of water, Haley did not have to go.  She sat on the potty for over an hour before David and I decided to just take our chances and go to the grocery store anyways.  We started getting ready to go and Haley decided then that she did have to go after all.  She left most of her pee on the kitchen floor but got a couple drops in the potty.  She did say 'poo poo potty' as she started going.

After her accident we headed to the grocery store and were gone for about an hour and a half.  Haley did not go pee pee the whole time we were gone, I did sit her on the potty at Kroger just in case but she said she didn't have to.  We picked up a pizza from Poppa John's on our way home, David had found a 1/2 off coupon and we both felt like we needed some kind of reward after a day of potty training and leaf bagging (David finished most of the yard, he did a great job!).  When we got home we sat Haley on the potty and fed her some pizza.  She drank a bunch more water and a juice box but again did not seem to have to go.  We started giving Emily a bath and Haley wanted to get in but I knew she would pee as soon as she got in.  After a while she got tired of the potty so I let her get in the tub and she did start to pee so we quickly put her on the potty.  That's when she stopped peeing and then started again when I put her on the potty.

After baths we put the babies to bed and then David and I ate our pizza together in peace.  Emily kept waking up so we ended up letting her be up, I think she was just not tired after her long day of sleeping.  She sat with us for a while and then went to bed.  I've got to say that potty training is not so great.  It's taking a lot longer for it to click for Haley than I thought it would.  I think she feels pressure when she's on the potty and it makes her unable to go.  Anyhow, I'll keep you updated on how it goes!

Haleyism:
Haley was watching Emily in the tub from her perch on the toilet and she said: 'Emily in the tub, Haley in the tub?'  It was kind of cute.

Emilyism:
Emily loves baths, she is a fish.

She told me she was putting her baby to sleep

Not going to lie, it made me pretty nervous for her to be sitting in this chair!
