Sick babies?

Wednesday night was not a great night as far as sleeping goes.  Haley woke up a bunch of times and David had to put her back to sleep.  I didn't wake up any of those times so I didn't really know that was going on.  He brought her to our bed at 3 something and I woke up and I was holding her and she was really warm and David was taking her temperature.  She definitely had a fever but not a bad one.  Apparently I kept giving really weird advice and then David said, "I don't even want to listen to you because I don't even know if you are awake right now" and I think just as he was saying that, I woke up for real.  My waking advice was to give her Tylenol so we attempted to do that.  The only problem is that Haley really does not like medicine and is pretty good at spitting it out and not getting any down. We usually like to hide it in her water or milk so we tried that with milk but she only took a sip and didn't want anymore.  We ended up putting her back to bed and I don't remember if she woke up again after that, you'd have to ask David.  Emily slept a five and a half hour stretch and then woke up and then only slept two more hours before waking up again.  I brought her back to our bed the second time since I had to get up soon anyways.

I had women's Bible study this morning so I got up a little after eight to get ready for the day.  Haley was still pretty warm and definitely sleepy so she stayed home with David and I just took Emily.  Emily was still sleeping when it was time to go so I transferred her to the car seat and she ended up sleeping for most of Bible study.  I brought her clothes to change her into once she woke up.  She didn't seem fazed when she woke up in somebody else's house, she just started smiling right away at everyone there.  I think she assumed that we were gathering to watch her wake up or something.  We are doing the book A Thousand Gifts for our Bible study, so far it is pretty good.  I guess it is more of a book study right now.

After Bible study I came home and David and Haley were just getting up.  Haley was acting kind of cranky and I figured she was just getting hungry so I pulled out the griddle and made some pancakes.  She ended up eating pretty good and then I decided to give her a bath because I always feel better once I've had a shower.  I put Emily down for a nap and put Haley in the tub.  David went to the Caldwell's new house to help paint for most of the day.  Haley was really happy to be in the tub but she got so sad after a while and started reaching for me and saying 'hold you' which means she wants me to hold her. I took her out and held her for a while and then dried her off and put her in some comfy clothes and put on the Bible movie for her.  I held her and read my book while she watched.  She was still pretty warm so I put some medicine in her water and she drank most of it.

After the movie I let her play for a little bit and then I put her down for a nap.  At that point Emily had been sleeping two hours in her crib and she continued sleeping for another half hour after that.  I think that is the best nap Emily has had in her crib.  I fed Emily and cuddled with her for a while and then put her in her bouncer seat while I straightened up the house a bit.  David came home from the Caldwell's then and we talked and then made dinner together.  Haley slept about two and a half hours and woke up kind of cranky.  She ate a lot of cheese at dinner but was still acting cranky so we decided to give her some medicine a little bit less discreetly.  I held her arms down and David held her face and put the medicine in there.  It actually was not too bad and she didn't cry or anything, she just resisted as much as she could.

After dinner David went back to the Caldwell's and I went to a middle school basketball game.  There are two 8th grade girls that go to our church and they had a basketball game at a school that is a couple blocks from our house.  It is so close that I definitely would have walked except that it was getting dark.  Emily got passed around at the game but I left Haley on my lap so she wouldn't get anyone else sick in case she is contagious.  The game was pretty short so we stopped by Wal-mart on our way home for milk and medicine.  I was hoping to get some thera-flu type stuff but you must need a prescription for that now because they didn't have any.  Instead I bought some ibuprofen (my doctor prefers it to Tylenol), some saline solution, and some vicks vapor rub.  When I got home both girls had just booed their diapers so I changed each of them and then put vicks vapor rub on their feet and put socks on them (I did this once for Haley and it helped clear up her sinuses and coughing, Emily is still coughing like she was at Christmas).  Then I put Emily to bed and put saline drops in Haley's nose (she's had bloody noses the past couple nights and at naptime).  Then I attempted to give Haley some Ibuprofen, definitely a two person job, I don't think she swallowed too much.  To reconcile, I read Haley a bunch of books before putting her to bed.  I think the first time she wakes up tonight we will give her Ibuprofen again.

Haleyism:
Haley woke up crying during her nap and when I went in and asked her what was wrong she said, 'boogeys!'  Poor little boo's nose was stuffed.

Emilyism:
Emily coughs like a smoker but she is happy as a clam, could she be fake coughing? haha

I forgot to take pictures today so I just grabbed some from Christmas break that I never got to post:

  1. Poor Haley! I hope she feels better soon.
And I did get the same pillow as your two - it's just red instead of white.
