A Monday outside

Last night Emily slept and didn't wake up until a little after 6:30.  That is still not twelve hours so I treat it as if she's waking up in the middle of the night.  She actually had a big boo so I guess that's why she woke up.  I changed her diaper and then gave her a couple of ounces from the bottle and then she went back to sleep.  I guess I might as well nurse her.  Originally I just gave her the bottle because I figured she would realize that she wasn't supposed to be waking up.  I'm not sure how I thought an infant would figure that out...

At eight thirty I woke up to sounds of Emily cooing in her crib.  She was really talking a lot and not seeming sad at all.  After a bit I decided I had better go in and get her before she woke Haley up.  When I opened the door to their room, there was Haley sitting in the crib next to Emily.  Emily was on her back, smiling and talking to Haley and Haley was just sitting there.  I'm not sure who woke up first but I'm guessing Emily woke Haley up and then Haley just went in there with her.  Normally if Haley wakes up she goes right to the door and yells 'open the door please!'  I think she forgets that Emily is even in there.  I really hope Haley didn't wake Emily up because if she starts doing that on a regular basis than it will be bad.

We all got up and dressed and were eating breakfast when Lucy arrived for the day.  If you have not figured it out yet, Lucy comes and plays with Haley on Mondays while I clean the house.  Usually this arrangement works great but today the girls had a hard time getting along at first.  I kept hearing shrieks from wherever they were and ended up having to make them share or something.  They are always super willing to take turns once you tell them to but they can't ever negotiate that without adult intervention.  I ended up feeding them an earlier lunch at 11:30 because they were being cranky.  Once they were fed they were in much better moods.  I let them play outside for a while and they found the only puddle of water on the property and sat in it.  I ended up taking off their pants and panties and throwing it in the wash.  Naptime was only twenty minutes away at that point so I just let them run around bare-bottomed until it was time to put their pull-ups on.  Hopefully the neighbors didn't notice.  They were both wearing kind of long shirts...

Emily went down for her morning nap at around 11 and ended up sleeping until 1:30.  That kind of messed me up because Haley and Lucy went down for naps at 1:30.  Fortunately Emily was in a pretty good mood so she just hung out in the exersaucer while I swept and mopped the floors.  David didn't have to work today but he ran some errands this morning and met with a guy from church for coffee this afternoon so he was in and out all day.  He was home for most of the older girls' naptime so he played with Emily for a bit which helped me out a lot.

Amanda dropped off Evelyn after school and then went and ran one last errand.  Lucy and Haley woke up shortly after and they all went outside to play while I started dinner.  Then Amanda came back and picked up her girls and our family went to the gym.  Emily kind of gave me a weird look when I handed her to the childcare worker at the gym.  I just smiled at her and left quickly, I really hope she doesn't have the separation anxiety Haley had.  I kind of think she won't, she smiles for very about everybody.  After the gym we came home and had dinner.  I decided to just puree the carrots and potatoes from our dinner and give them to Emily to eat.  She'll eat just about anything so I figured I'd give it a try since she'd already had applesauce for breakfast and lunch.  She did not seem to pleased with the potato/carrot combination so I mixed in some applesauce and she ate it no problem.  While I was feeding Emily Haley walked up and asked for a bite.  She thought it was applesauce I'm sure.  Anyways, I figured it wouldn't hurt her to have some extra vegetables so I gave her a bit.  She immediately got a look of horror on her face and started gagging!  She must have a super sensitive palette because I had tried some and it really wasn't that bad.  I felt bad after that and gave her some real applesauce.

David had prayer group with guys from church so they met in the backyard around a campfire while I played with the girls and then put them to bed.  Haley had an accident at the window while she was watching them out by the fire.  I guess she couldn't pull herself away long enough to tell me that she had to go.  I was pretty annoyed with her but then it gave me an excuse to say it was time for bedtime.

Haleyism:
I put Emily to bed first and while I was nursing her I told Haley to go get a book from the den.  She was gone a couple minutes and I heard her crying.  I put Emily in the crib and when I came out to the den she was sitting on the steps and pointing at the laptop like it was a huge dog or something.  I took her hand and we walked over and she pointed to the tiny blinking blue light on the side.  I told her it was just a light and she laughed nervously and said, 'crazy light.'  I thought it was really weird that she would be afraid of that.  Especially because a couple minutes later she started pointing to various lights in the house and saying, 'there's another one!'  All that to say, Haley is not afraid of the dark, but she is afraid of lights.

Emilyism:
Evelyn and Lucy love to play 'doctor' with Emily.  She lays on the tummy time mat and they do various examinations of her.  She likes it because then she can try and grab their hair.

Playing on the couch

Running around without pants

The puddle they found, it was not deep at all and somehow their pants were soaked

Poor Lucy is using the potty and Haley is trying to see.  Haha

I told her to wait until Lucy is finished

Playing under the picnic table

They were putting their babies to sleep under there

  1. I LOVE the pics of the little girls! THe ones with the bare bottoms are hilarious! By the way, Haley's bottom is so dark! I'm jealous of that skin!!!

I'm so glad that Haley likes her doctor kit! It's still a big hit around here so I'm glad it wasn't just my family! haha
