Haley wreaks havoc and Emily sleeps

Wednesday night Emily decided to bless us with some sleep.  She woke up around midnight and I put her paci in and then she did not wake up again until 8:15!  I fed her and then she still seemed a little sleep so I put her back in her crib.  Meanwhile Haley woke up and used the potty and then wanted to cuddle with mommy and daddy in our bed.  I brought her to our bed and she was in there a couple minutes before climbing out again.  She went back to her room and I figured she was going to get her bunny or something.  A couple minutes later I heard an elmo video playing from over the monitor.  Haley had climbed into Emily's crib, grabbed the Ipad which had been playing some white noise, and put on an elmo video for her and Emily to enjoy.  When I got to the crib Haley was sitting next to Emily and they were both watching a video of Elmo talking about vegetables.  Emily had obviously just been woken up but she seemed happy that her sister had included her.

It was a super nice day outside today so David and I decided to go to the park after breakfast.  We parked a mile away from the playground and then jogged there with the girls in the strollers.  I'm not sure what we're going to do when we have three kids, maybe Haley will be riding a bike by then.  Haley had been kind of cranky after breakfast, I have no idea why, but she perked up almost as soon as we got in the van.  It's amazing what a change of scenery can do for her.  The playground was packed out, there must have been at least twenty people there with their kids.  And it seemed each of those twenty people had five kids.  We pushed the girls in the swings and watched Haley climb around and then eventually headed back down the trail.  Emily fell asleep on the walk back but woke up when we got home.

David and I took turns getting lunch together and taking showers.  Haley ate an entire half of a grilled cheese sandwich!  She said she wanted some 'jugo' (Spanish for juice) and I told her she had to eat some sandwich first.  I think she thought I meant she had to eat all of her sandwich because that was when she inhaled her whole sandwich, crust and everything.  I know it seems so dumb to be bragging about what my kid eats but Haley does not eat anything normal so I was pretty excited.  The low point of lunch was when I was making Haley's sandwich and she pulled out one of my glass pyrex storage containers and dropped it on the floor.  It shattered into a thousand pieces.  You would think the scary sound of breaking glass would bring Haley to tears or at least make her seem remorseful but I think she thought it was neat.  I got some tears out of her on time out.

After lunch we put the girls down for naps, they were both tired after our morning at the park and went right to sleep.  Haley slept two and a half hours and Emily slept just over three.  While they slept we started getting ready for our company we were having for dinner.  I made a pound cake and David set the table and helped straighten up the house.  As soon as Emily woke up we all headed out to Sam's.  I had found a voucher online for a Sam's Membership which included a 20 gift card and 20 dollars worth of free food (rotisserie chicken, a pizza, and a bunch of cookies) and we decided it would be worth it.  The gift card and food alone were worth the amount of the card and then you get 5 cents of each gallon of gas at the Wal-mart gas station if you're a Sam's club member so we figured that would make it worth it too.  After going and getting our cards I'm really not sure how often we will shop there, it is just so overwhelming.  However, the gas will definitely be worth it since they usually have the cheapest gas in town and we will get five additional cents deducted.  I know, we are counting pennies here at this point.

Haley used the potty at Sam's and then we looked around for a little bit.  I needed to buy strawberries for dessert tonight and they didn't have any so that is their first strike against them!  We ended up heading over to Wal mart next door to get strawberries and a couple other things and then we went home.  Emily was getting cranky so I fed her some dinner and then David helped me get our dinner together.  We invited a new couple from church over for dinner.  They just moved to the area a couple weeks ago and don't really know anybody so we figured we would be their friends first, haha.  They are our age, have been married for four years and do not have any children yet.  He is a lawyer and she is a teacher.  Haley was super shy at first but she got over it fairly quickly.

I made chicken with an apple cream sauce, mashed potatoes, green beans, and croissants.  Well, technically I did not make the croissants, I pulled them out of a tube, haha.  Then we had pound cake, strawberries, and whipped cream for dessert.  Haley ate three croissants, haha.  After dinner we sat in the living room and talked.  Haley was playing super nicely by herself in the den when she walked up to the steps and asked for daddy and then mumbled something about poo poo.  I could tell she had had an accident by the way she was standing.  David took her to the bathroom and casually cleaned up one of the worst boo accidents she has had yet.  He said she stepped in it during the clean up process, haha.  He came out a couple minutes later with Haley changed into her pajamas.  Way to go Daddy for making that look easy!

After the boo incident Haley seemed to think she needed some more attention.  She was digging around in the diaper bag for a while which I usually let her do but I forgot that there was a sharpie in there from when I taught her Sunday school class on Sunday (we needed it for labeling something).  Anyways, before we knew it, she had scribbled on the hardwood.  David took the marker away and then just held her.  He let her have her paci and she just sat there, I think she was getting tired.  Our company headed out around eight fifteen.  Kind of early I thought but he had to work tomorrow and it was kind of convenient because we could just wait for them to leave to put the kids to bed.  Hopefully they won't delay having kids a whole lot longer because of us.

After they left we put them to bed and they went right to sleep.  Then David and I did the dishes and looked up online how to get sharpie out of hardwood floors.  Rubbing alcohol and toothpaste is the answer.  Well, a couple websites mentioned magic erasers but we didn't have any on hand and I didn't know if it would set more the longer it was there.  We used Q-tips and rubbing alcohol for most of it and then rubbed toothpaste in it and scrubbed it with a paper towel.  It worked out that the heaviest scribbles were right over a knot in the wood.  Also, it was in a corner of the room so it is less noticeable.  Now everyone has to come visit and see if they can find it.

Haleyism:
Haley has suddenly decided she loves orange juice.  Hopefully vegetables will be next.

Emilyism:
Emily's boo is just as big, if not bigger than Haley's.  Sorry, I realize that is probably too much information.

  1. Beautiful pictures! What made you decide to get family pictures? Good idea.
That Sam's club membership seems like a pretty sweet deal.
Way to go, David, with making Poo-pickup seem effortless.
