We decided to run some errands once we were all ready for the day. First we went to Chase bank where we realized that David had left his wallet at home so we drove back home. I know that sounds like a terrible inconvenience but Chase Bank is probably less than a half of a mile from our house so it really wasn't. We got the wallet and then went back to Chase and made a deposit. Then we went home because we realized that we didn't have our Sam's cards and we wanted to go there next. I ran inside to grab the cards and couldn't find them. Then David went inside and looked. Then I cleaned out the diaper bag. Then we cleaned out the van. Then we gave up and David went to put a pen or something in a random compartment in the van and there were the cards. Oh my. By then it was getting kind of late so we decided to skip Sam's and go to Kohl's. We stopped by Petsmart because they had a bunch of dogs outside that were up for adoption. Before we walked up David and I decided that we would not, under any circumstances, be adopting a dog. It was a good thing we decided that because there were a bunch of super cute puppies and a big hound looking dog that would have looked sweet on our front porch.
After Petsmart we went to Kohl's to get a matching swimsuit for Emily. As you may recall, I bought one there for Haley yesterday. We ended up hanging around there for a while because Haley had to use the potty and then the toys are right next to the bathroom so we let her browse around in there for a while. Finally we made our way to the registers. Well, this is where everything gets embarrassing. I pulled out what I thought was my ten dollars off paper and it was a 20% off paper that I didn't need. I looked in the diaper bag for it but I couldn't find it. David went to the van to see if it was in there and it wasn't so he just quick drove home to grab it. Kohl's is a little over a mile from our house so not a super big inconvenience but we had parked at Petsmart so he did have to do some walking too. I told him I thought it was maybe on the kitchen table. While he was gone I went back to the toys with the girls and after a while I called him and asked his status. He said he was looking around because it wasn't on the kitchen table. Then he said maybe I gave it to him and it was in the diaper bag but in the a different pocket. Yup, it was in the diaper bag, in the main pocket, underneath everything. Oh my. We went back to the front, paid for the swimsuit (Emily had better love this swimsuit) and then waited for David outside.
By then it was definitely time for lunch and naps so we went straight home. We fed Haley and Emily and then put them down for naps. Then David and I ate lunch while we played Ticket to Ride. He won once and I won once. Haley slept maybe two hours and Emily slept almost three. When they woke up we gave them snacks and then went to the gym. There are not many kids at the gym at 5pm on a Saturday so Haley and Emily pretty much had the place to themselves. Haley was watching a Dora movie when we came to pick her up. She was holding a random stuffed animal that they thought was her's but it wasn't. I guess she stole it from some kid and then got them to think it was her's.
After the gym we went to Sam's to pick up a pizza that we had a voucher for. Those pizzas are so big, 16 inches in diameter and so heavy! We came home and baked it and then ate it outside. Well, we ate maybe half of it. It's so nice to eat at the picnic table. Haley can eat a couple bites and run around with food falling everywhere and it really doesn't matter in the least. After dinner we piled back in the van and went back to Sam's. We wanted to browse around and do some price comparisons. David made a running list on his phone and we'll compare it to Wal-mart. It was actually kind of fun, especially because Haley was pretending to be Emily in the cart for a lot of the time. After a while she asked to get out and then she kept going between big pallets of stuff because only she could fit in there. She was pretty good about listening when we told her to come though.
We ended our time at Sam's with a chocolate milkshake from their little cafe upfront. They had run out of vanilla so David didn't want any but the girls and I split a chocolate one. It wasn't bad, it kind of reminded me of a Frosty. David said that Sam's reminds him of a big grocery place that they have in Latin America. His comment became super funny because we saw mostly Hispanic people there, I guess Sam's reminds them of that place too. After Sam's we came home and changed into pajamas and put the girls to bed.
Haleyism:
A lot of times I will call for David around the house by saying 'Hey David?' with inflection to indicate a question. Anyways, now anytime Haley wants David she says 'Hey Daddy?' with the same inflection.
Emilyism:
I had the last laugh with Emily's refusal of the green beans. This morning I pureed them some more and added some banana and Emily ate them without any problems. I think the bananas must have masked the flavor of the green beans or something because she ate a lot of that combination, gross.
| At dinner, Haley decided to lay down on the concrete for some reason. |
