David did not have to work today but he did have to go in for a meeting so he was gone most of the morning. Haley, Emily and I got dressed and then started in on laundry. I might as well warn you now that we did not have a very exciting day. Emily took two naps which ended up adding up to over five hours of sleep. She must be growing or something. Needless to say, she was not on the scene very much today. Haley tried to spice things up by having a couple accidents. Just pee but still rather irritating. I wonder if she was just trying to get some attention since I was cleaning most of the day. One of her accidents was right by the window and she got pee on one of my curtains. It worked out that I was doing laundry anyways.
Daddy came home for lunch and we had BLTs and then I organized the girl's dresser before naps. Emily is growing out of her 3 month clothes and really needs to be wearing 6 months. The only problem is that most of the 6 month stuff is summery so I am waiting for it to get warmer. Today is supposedly the coldest day of this week and by Saturday it's supposed to be 80 so I think we'll be wearing summer clothes by then.
David started working on the roof while the girls slept and he was still on the ladder when Haley woke up. The part that fell off is right by our bedroom window so I folded laundry on the bed and left the window open so Haley could talk to Daddy. She called it "helping Daddy," it was super cute. Basically she was just talking to him but I guess that is a help. Emily was still completely out so I put the monitor by the window and Haley and I took the van downtown to pick up some tortillas from a Mexican place (Pollo Cacuchon in case you know, I know Aunt Rin does!). When we got there Haley had to use the bathroom so we used their potty, bought our tortillas, and headed home. Haley was very aware that Emily was not with us, she talked about her a lot of the time. Emily woke up shortly after we got home, she was all smiles after sleeping over three hours.
We had invited the Caldwells over for dinner because they were out of town for the weekend and driving back today. There is nothing worse than getting home from a roadtrip around dinnertime and having to make dinner so I told them to just come to our house. I heated up some pork and we had pork tacos. I was a little embarrassed when I realized that the last time we had them over, we had pork tacos. I thought of this just as we were sitting down to eat so there was nothing I could do at that point. They both said they liked them last time and they were happy to have them again so I hope they were telling the truth. Emily had sweet potatoes and then played around in the Johnny jump-up. The kids ate and then played and we caught up with Ben and Amanda. Amanda had brought some brownies which worked out because I hadn't started making the cookies I had planned on. They stayed until around eight and then headed home. Haley and Emily were both starting to get tired so we gave them their snacks and then put them to bed. Pray that Emily does well tonight!
Haleyism:
Haley was talking about Emily and telling me she is "soo cute."
Emilyism:
Emily only needs sleep training for when she wakes up at night. She goes to sleep by herself initially, it's just during the night that she struggles. When I looked back at Haley's sleep training it seems that most of the work was putting her down at the beginning of the night. I guess I fed her to sleep more or something, sorry Haley!

ReplyDeleteWow, Emily did so well sleeping. I'll pray tonight everytime I'm up...you know old people and their bladders!
I know what Pollo Cachuchon is!! I can't forget their great chicken! I wish we could get that around here. I guess we need one here.
I love the pics! The outfits you picked out were so cute! And I can't believe how long Haley's hair is and how old she looks! Could she take a little visit up to aunt Carly? Surely she is old enough to fly alone. Or perhaps her father could fly her up.......
ReplyDeleteREMEMBER I AM HOME ALL OF MAY SO PLEASE DRIVE THEM UP HERE AND I CAN WATCH THEM DURING YOUR BAHAMAS TRIP. I AM SURE CHICAGO IS ABOUT HALFWAY BETWEEN TEXAS AND THE BAHAMAS. I MEAN, IT'S PRACTICALLY ON THE WAY..... (excuse the caps.)
Great pictures!! They really turned out.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that Emily responded so well to sleep training! Ellie would just cry harder when I picked her up....it was strange. I hope that tonight went just as well.
I can't wait to see you and the girls sometime soon! They're growing up so quickly.
