Haley eats well and Emily sleeps terrible

Last night Emily slept awful.  She must be going through a growth spurt because she was up every two to three hours and crying to be fed everytime.  This is a far cry (no pun intended) from her waking up at 6:45 and going back to bed like she has the past several days.  I ended up having to feed her at 1 something and then later around 5.  She woke up at 8:30 babbling in her crib and seeming fresh as a daisy.  I guess her late night escapades do not tire her out.  I brought her back to bed so she wouldn't wake Haley up but she just kept babbling.  It was kind of funny, she was saying 'baba' over and over, but in a whisper.  I think she knew that Daddy was still sleeping.

Haley woke up a little after Emy and David got up with both of the girls and fed them so I could sleep just a couple minutes later.  I told him I would return the favor by doing dinner and bedtime by myself.  This was actually no joke because he left at eleven this morning for a flight and won't be back until close to midnight tonight.  We took showers and got ready for the day and then said goodbye to David.  I decided to take the girls to Wal-mart to get some more food for Emily.  She is in love with bananas and would eat an entire banana every day if that was all I gave her.  I know this is true because one time all I had for her was a huge banana and she ate that for all three meals, haha.  They had some herbs for sale outside so we also bought some sweet basil to plant.

When we got home I made lunch and we ate outside at the picnic table.  Haley loves to eat outside.  Anytime I offer her a snack she asks if she can eat it outside.  Tonight I was giving her some pretzels and she asked if she could eat them outside.  Um, Haley, in the pitch dark?  I let Haley play for a while after lunch and then I put both of the girls down for naps.  Emily had fallen asleep on the way home from Wal-mart but had only slept maybe thirty minutes.  She had a hard time going down for her nap and I'm still not sure if it was because she wasn't tired or if it was because she was overtired.  Whatever the case, I nursed her a little bit and she settled down and went to sleep.  I figure it won't mess her up too bad if I do that every so often.

While the girls slept I mowed the backyard because it was starting to get long and that usually brings mosquitoes.  It was sunny outside so I was actually multi-tasking and trying to get a tan.  My sister Carly sent me a text today and she said it is twenty degrees in Chicago and her kids were playing outside.  They are insane.  I put the monitor outside and turned off the mower every so often to listen for someone waking up.  Neither of them ever did and I was able to finish the back and one of the sides while simultaneously getting a little sun.

Haley woke up after sleeping a little over two hours.  She had booed in her pull-up and was pretty concerned about it, she doesn't usually do that.  Emily slept another hour or so and when she woke up I started on dinner.  Well, I put the chicken nuggets in the oven if that counts.  Haley is starting to eat so much better.  For dinner she ate a croissant, three chicken nuggets, and tons of applesauce.  Originally she had only eaten two chicken nuggets but I told her that if she ate another one then I would give her ice cream for dessert.  It took a couple minutes but she got another one down and then ate a big bowl of ice cream.  It really was huge, I forgot that I was scooping a bowl for Haley and not myself.  I figured if she didn't finish it then I could have some but she finished it.  I sneaked out a couple spoonfuls for Emily.

After dinner we went outside and played some and then planted the basil plant.  Haley was starting to get a little too excited about the dirt so we didn't stay out long.  Then we came inside and changed into pajamas and I read books to the girls for an hour.  Haley loves reading books and sits so nicely while I read, otherwise we wouldn't last so long.  We actually would have read longer except Haley randomly peed on the couch!  I was so frustrated with her and told her it was time for bed.  It was really time for bed anyways but we had been waiting for David to finish eating so he could Skype us before bed.  Haley definitely knew she was not supposed to pee pee on the couch, she went right to her bed without any fuss.  She just laid in her bed and watched while I nursed Emily and put her down.  Then I went over to tuck her in and we talked about how you shouldn't pee on the couch and only pee pee in the potty.  When we were finished talking she said, 'talk to daddy?'  Well, I couldn't really resist that and Emily had gone right to sleep so I took her to the den and we Skyped David.  Then I told her she could have a snack if she helped clean up the den and she helped do that and had a snack and then went to bed.  As I was laying her down she asked if I could rock her.  Almost every night she asks me to be rocked and I am just the biggest sucker because as soon as she asks my mind tells me, 'she's not always going to want you to do that you know.' And then I just have to.

Haleyism:
Haley was talking to David so much on Skype.  She would start with 'hey Daddy?' and he would say 'yes Haley?' and then she would go off on a long rabbit trail saying everything she could think of.  She was telling him about the books we had been reading and the characters in the books.  She just kept talking and talking, we couldn't understand most of it, I just caught words here and there.

Emilyism:
Emily now says 'baba'

I think Haley is ready for Emily to grow up and start running around with her

Haley is an athlete
