Family photo Sunday

Sunday we were signed up to bring donuts to church so we had to get up a little earlier.  Emily woke up with David and I but Haley slept in until around nine.  The girls wore matching outfits from Mimi to church.  They got a lot of compliments, I should have taken a picture.  Haley's skirt is a little big so we had to safety pin the sides.  Even still, after the service she was running around and at one point I saw her just standing in the middle of the room with her skirt at her ankles.  Oops, haha.  Haley was really good at telling us when she had to use the bathroom at church, almost too good.  She ended up going four times while we were there and had three false alarms.  Emily took a while to fall asleep during the sermon.  I stand in the back and sway and rock until she's out and it took longer this week.  She's kind of over the blanket on her face thing now.  She likes to be able to see and then slowly drift off on her own.

After church we came home and had lunch.  Then David and I put the girls in the tub.  We had forgotten to give them baths last night and we had family pictures at 4:30 and we wanted them clean.  After baths we put them down for naps.  Emily has not been sleeping great in her swing lately so I put her down in her crib.  David put the Ipad in there with her so that she would take a nice long nap.  It turned out pretty well.  Haley slept two and a half hours and Emily slept almost three.  As soon as they woke up we gave them snacks and then started getting them ready for pictures.  4:30 ended up being a perfect time because both of the girls were well-rested and fed.  We met the photographer at a local park and he did pictures of the whole family, a few of each girl by herself, a few of the girls together, and a couple of just David and I.  Emily was in a great mood and very smiley but Haley was a little bit harder to convince.  Fortunately David had thought ahead and brought some of those marshmallow peeps to bribe her with.  We gave her little pieces between the different poses for smiling.

The monkey wrench in our photo shoot came when Haley announced that she had to use the potty.  We had planned on bringing her little potty along with us but somehow it had slipped both of our minds.  David and I decided there is a first time for everything so he took her to a tree and helped her squat and go there.  David tried to hold her like she was sitting on a potty and then she went.  Emily was in the middle of a photo shoot during that whole event.  I hope there aren't pictures of Haley squatting in the background.

Our little session took just under an hour which landed us right at dinnertime.  We came home and changed and then David convinced me to try out a fried chicken place that we've never been to.  Well, I've actually been to it but it was about three years ago so I didn't have much memory of it.  We went through the drive thru and then went to a park to eat while Haley played on the playground.  We weren't there long before it started to get dark and cold so we headed home.

Once home we put Emily in the exersaucer and put on the Bible movie for Haley while she sat on the potty and ate her dinner.  Then David and I played Ticket to Ride, he won.  By then the girls were about ready for bed so we did the whole routine and then put them down.  Emily went right to sleep but Haley had to go potty about two minutes after we put her down.  Now they're both quiet and hopefully Dave and I can go to bed semi-early!

Haleyism:
Today at church David was holding Haley and she had something on her finger.  She looked at her finger, said 'gross,' and then stuck the said finger in David's mouth!  David is not sure what was on there but he's hoping it wasn't a boogie!

Emilyism:
Poor Emily face-planted into the grass during our photo shoot today.  Haley was holding her and she kind of lost her grip...

Okay, after our photo shoot with the photographer, I came home and did my own photo shoot with Emily.  She was just so smiley, I couldn't resist!

This was Haley's outfit, she did NOT want me to take any more pictures of her

posing on the step is not easy
