A busy Saturday

Emily must be teething because she was up two times on Friday night.  The second time we gave her Ibuprofen and she slept until 8:30.  We really didn't have much planned for Saturday but it ended up being a busy day.  The first thing we had was a Birthday party for one of Haley's friends.  Well, actually the Mom is more like my friend, I don't know that Haley has ever really played with the Birthday boy.  Anyways, his name is Whitley and he was turning two.

The party was at a park so Haley spent most of the time playing on the equipment with David and the other kids and their dads.  The moms hung out under the pavilion with the babies.  I put Emily in the stroller and rocked her back and forth, figuring she would drift off eventually.  She must have known there was cake on the menu or something because she stayed wide awake.  After the party, two other families invited us to have lunch with them at a little Mexican place in town.  We don't hang out with these people super often so David and I decided to go for it, even though we have been eating out a lot this weekend.  Emily fell asleep at the restaurant, finally, so that worked out nicely for us.

The two other families were the Clarks and the Blacks.  The Blacks are the family that have two kids whose ages are within months of Haley and Emily's.  Haley spent a lot of the time playing with Ruthie who is three months older than her.  There was a window right next to our table so they spent a lot of time looking out of it.  There was only one other family at the restaurant and they also had two kids so we didn't feel too bad being loud.  At one point Haley and Ruthie were laying on the floor eating tortillas, tired and hungry I guess.  We stayed and talked for a while after eating and then headed home when children started to get tired.

David put Haley down for a nap and she went right to sleep.  About fifteen minutes later she emerged from her room looking a little too fresh and asking to use the potty.  I took her to the potty and then David put her back in her room.  She laid in there for about fifteen more minutes but didn't fall asleep and was clearly not planning on it.  David and I decided to just let her stay up and then put her down super early for bed.  There was an event downtown called 'alleyfest' which we have gone to the past couple years so we decided to do that.

When we got there we found out that they are now charging to get into alleyfest even though it has always been free.  Lame.  We decided that if they are charging, then they must have added attractions or something and it must be better than year's past.  Well, that was a false assumption.  It actually seemed to have less going on than in year's past, oh well.  It did work out because Haley was a lot more into it than last year, even though she was kind of tired from her missed nap.  We did end up killing almost two hours there.  Most of the time was spent at a tent that was set up with a bunch of kid's yard toys.  Haley spent a lot of the time playing in a play house, she loved opening and closing the windows.

We put Emily in the backpack while we were there because we figured it would be easy for her to fall asleep in there but she never did.  At 4:30 when we left, Emily was still running on her measly thirty minute nap she took at the restaurant during lunch.  We put her down for a nap as soon as we got home.  Haley was so tired so we let her lay down for a little too but we only let her sleep for about thirty minutes and then we got her up to play and eat dinner.  Emily only ended up sleeping about an hour and a half and then she woke up hungry.

We ate dinner and then went to Wal-mart to pick up The Hobbit from Redbox along with a couple random things.  We got home just before eight and I put the girls down to bed right away while David worked on the church service tomorrow.  Haley had a hard time going to sleep but I think that was only because she was so tired.

Haleyism:
Haley loves to sing 'any many more' at the end of 'Happy Birthday.'  Today she sang happy birthday to 'and many more' and then she sang 'and many more' at the end of her song.

Emilyism:
Emily napped a total of two hours today.  She still doesn't have any teeth through.  I hope she sleeps through the night tonight!
