A day with my girls and some others

Today was a typical Monday in the Canche house: cleaning and laundry.  The girls gave me an earlier start than usual by waking up at about 8.  They have been getting up a little earlier lately, I hope it's just a fluke!  It worked out because I had time to grab a shower, feed the girls breakfast, and start the laundry before Lucy arrived to play.  Haley and Lucy got right to work playing.  Lucy literally walked in, dropped her backpack, and ran with Haley into the den, it was so cute.  I didn't have any problems from them for most of the day but Emily certainly gave me a run for my money.

I'm not sure what her deal was but Emily was being so high maintenance.  I put her in the den to play with her toys and watch Haley and Lucy and that was the longest time she lasted without me having to hold her, besides naptime that is.  I ended up putting her down for a nap around ten and then waking her up at 11:15 so she would nap at the same time as Haley in the afternoon.  She did eat a lot today so maybe she is having a growth spurt or something.

Everything went pretty much as usual.  Haley and Lucy ate lunch outside and David got home around lunch from a morning flight he had been on.  He brought some donuts back with him from the airport so that was a nice surprise.  After lunch I put the girls down for naps.  Haley really wanted to sleep in the guest bed with Lucy so I let her lay in there for a while until it was painfully obvious that they weren't planning on actually sleeping.  They lasted about five minutes or so and then were just too loud.  During naps Amanda came to pick up Lucy but she was still sleeping so I offered to keep Evelyn while she ran to the grocery store.

I had just finished mopping the floor and so I did my Bible study.  Evelyn played nicely by herself until the girls woke up.  When Lucy woke up I found that she had booed in her pull-up, so nasty.  Apparently she doesn't like booing on the potty so sometimes she goes in her pull-up, not cool.  I considered leaving it in there but it just smelled too bad.  Then I realized that Lucy was not the only one that smelled.  Apparently Evelyn had been too afraid to ask me to use the bathroom (or something!?!?!) because she had booed in her panties!  I was SO mad.  I told the girls to just go outside until I could not be mad anymore.  They filed outside and sat at the picnic table until I decided what to do.

After a couple minutes I felt more calm and decided to do the easiest, most efficient thing: hose them off.  I took of their matching dresses and marched them over to the hose.  Then I told them to take off their respective underwear and pull-up and then I hosed them off.  I had warned them that it would probably be cold and maybe hurt a little (water pressure, there was a nozzle on the hose) and they seemed cool with that.  Lucy actually started giggling when I was hosing her off, fail.  Then I put their dresses back on and let them just go bare underneath until Amanda came.  She arrived shortly after and got the whole story.  She did not seem too shocked so I wonder if that's a normal thing?!  Haley was pretty horrified by the whole skeptical.  She kept saying things like, "Lucy and Evelyn so gross!  No ma'am!"  David was mowing the lawn and stopped to ask what was going on once I started hosing them off, haha.

After Lucy and Evelyn left we started making dinner.  We had invited our pastor's family over for dinner since our pastor is in Israel right now leading a group of LeTourneau students.  We had his wife, Marietta, and their four children: Chloe (8th grade), Caleb (6th grade), Cade (4th grade?), and Campbell (age 4).  David grilled chicken and vegetables and I made rice, croissants, and cookies for dessert.  It was really nice outside so we ate at the picnic table.  Haley was pretty excited to have guests, she kept randomly shrieking.  Emily was so cranky while I was trying to get everything together so I ended up putting her in the backpack and then she was happy.  They stayed until about 7:15.

Then David went out back to start a fire for men's group that meets at our house every other Monday.  The girls and I hung out inside and then I put them in their pajamas and read them books and put them to bed.  They both went down right away.

Haleyism:
Today at dinner Haley was being so funny about asking for stuff.  I don't know if she actually realized that I was talking or was just being shy because she would come up and pat/hit me on the back, and then point to whatever she wanted as if she was a mute.

Emilyism:
For dinner Emily ate: about a quarter of a croissant, a quarter of a cookie, and an entire banana.  The banana was HUGE.

I forgot to take pictures today but last year this time David and I were on a trip to the Bahamas with his company.  David didn't get put on the trip this year and we were super bummed at first but I have been so relieved the past couple of days because it would have been so hard to be away from my girls!  I am so thankful that I can give them kisses anytime I want and squeeze them all the time.  Who needs a tropical island when you have Haley and Emy right here?!  Anyways, I included some pictures that Mimi sent me last year when she was taking care of Haley and I was missing her:

Long nap I suppose

Hanging out with Aunt Rin before she went back to PA and then Uganda!

Haley still wears those pajamas, haha
