A Saturday of Birthday parties

SATURDAY was a busy day.  We got up around 8:30 when Haley woke up and ended up having to get Emily up so we could leave.  We had two Birthday parties in the morning: one at ten and one at eleven and we needed to get gifts for both.  We decided to go to Old Navy because we wanted to take some things back and do the coupon and to try and find gifts there.  I know that it's super lame to give clothes for gifts but I love it when my kids get clothes for gifts so we decided the parents would probably be happy even if the kids weren't.  Plus, I had asked the parents what they wanted and had gotten nothing specific.  Just things like, "Oh, they don't need anything!"  I found some athletic shorts for the eight year old party; they were Dallas Mavericks shorts, I hope he's a fan.  The other party was for a two year old and I got him a polo shirt and some shorts, his mother will be please I think.

We threw the gifts in giftbags I had brought along and then headed to the first party which was at a gymnastics place.  We went to a party at this same gym a month or so ago for Christopher Mason.  Haley loved it then and she loved it yesterday too.  She was running around and jumping everywhere.  We got to stay for the whole party but were the first people to leave.  I had told his Mom that we had another party and they actually did too so I think they needed people to head out anyways.  The reason we were invited to an eight year old's party is because it was a family from church and our church is so small that they can invite the whole church.

We drove from Owen's party straight to Ki's party.  Ki is a little boy who Haley knows from MOPS and BSF.  Actually on Wednesday the BSF teachers told me that Haley seems to especially like Ki and almost flirts with him.  I think it's because she knows him best.  Also, for the record, Ki is short for Hezekiah.  I kind of think it's cute, I would maybe use it but make it short for Kyle.  I know Kyle doesn't really need to be shortened though.

Ki's party was at Ki's house.  His mom is super crafty and the whole party was mustache/bow tie themed and it was completely adorable.  There were mustaches and bowties to put on when you walked in the door and they were everywhere in the decorations.  I should have taken pictures because it was just amazing.  Actually, if you look up a bowtie/mustache theme party on pinterest it probably looks like the best party pictures you could find.  She had three different kinds of 'bowtie' pasta for lunch along with salad and garlic bread.  The kids ate and played outside and the adults ate and watched them play.  Haley ate some pasta and most of the icing off of a cupcake.  Later Ki opened his presents while all the kids watched.

I could tell that Haley felt more comfortable at the party with kids her age.  She was a lot louder and kind of wild sometimes.  We stayed until about 1 and then I headed out with Janette to go to a MOPS leader meeting in Tyler while David took the girls home for naps.  My meeting was from 1 - 5 and I didn't get home until about 5:40 or so.  David said he went straight home and put the girls down for naps at 1:30.  Haley slept 2 1/2 hours and Emily slept three hours and forty-five minutes!  When I got home Emily had just woken up.  She literally slept the afternoon away.

It was still super hot so we decided to go the splash pad for dinner and playtime.  David had a frozen pizza in the oven so we packed up our gear while we waited for it to cook and then headed out.  The only bummer was once we reached the splash pad we realized that we had forgotten Haley's swimsuit, oops.  We turned around and grabbed it and then came back.  Fortunately gas is super cheap...not.  Haley ate about one and a half pieces of pizza and Emily ate maybe half.  Then David played in the water with Haley and I sat in my chair and read while Emily played with toys.  We ended up staying a little over a hour and then grabbed Sonic shakes on the way home because they're half off after eight and it was about 8:15.  When we got home we ate our shakes and then put the girls to bed.

Haleyism:
The first thing Haley said when she woke up this morning was "birthday party?"  I guess she really liked them.

Emilyism:
Emily HATES getting in the water at the Splash pad.  I put her in the water just to wash her off after she ate and she got so mad.  It might be a long summer for that one.

At the first party.  Haley is laying next to Braiden.  He laid down first then Haley copied him.
Apparently Haley's friend Zane was styling her hair, haha.  Ki, the Birthday boy is the one leaning down.  If you look closely you will notice his mustache shorts.

  1. We were all talking yesterday about how long Haley's hair is! So pretty.
I like the Ki nickname, too. I've seen someone named Kai before (same pronunciation, different spelling).
