We ran by the house to pick up my Chick-fil-A giftcard, for some reason it wasn't in my wallet. I had told Haley that we were going to Chick-fil-A so she was pretty confused and put-out when we pulled into our driveway. I explained to her that I would just run in and be right back and she seemed to accept that. Chelsie does not have any kids so it was really nice to have her along. She stayed with the kids while I ordered our food and held Emily for a bit after she woke up. Haley ate really well at Chick-fil-A, she ate at least two nuggets and several french fries. Usually I'm happy if I get half of a french fry in her. Emily also ate a couple french fries and worked on a nugget but I'm not sure that any of that actually got swallowed.
We ended up staying for about an hour and a half. The girls played in the playground after they were done eating and seemed to have a good time in there. None of the girls are tall enough to climb up the steps they have in there so the easiest way for them to get up there is by going up the slide. David usually helps Haley get up the steps so I did go in and help her go up a couple of times. The only problem was that I then had to help Evelyn and Lucy and they are quite a bit heavier! Haley used the potty two times while we were there. Haley started to get cranky around 2 and I decided to head out. She started to have a meltdown about something, I think she wanted to take the lid off of the water and play with the ice or something like that. Anyways, we hurried out of there at the end.
As soon as we got home I put the girls down for naps. Haley slept until after four and Emily slept until after five! I made spaghetti for dinner. That was bad. We were eating and I found a snail shell in the spaghetti. That's right, a small shell, but it was definitely a shell. I don't think it was in the beef and I fell about 99% sure that it wasn't in the basil leaves I brought in for the garden which only leaves the Great Value spaghetti sauce that David loves. We were both so grossed out that we stopped eating immediately and threw everything away. We have been trying to forget about it ever since.
After dinner we went to the park and parked down the trail and ran to get to the playground. I thought that maybe running would help work any snail guts through my system. We ran two miles, played at the playground, and then walked back. While we were walking back my friend Chelsie texted to tell me that the clearance section at Old Navy was all 50% off. She said everything was so cheap and I had to go. Well, it was only 8 and Old Navy doesn't close until 9 so we headed over. I was glad then that the girls had slept so late because they were still pretty fresh. We ended up finding a bunch of stuff and paid $75 for 15 articles of clothing! I had a $15 off of $75 coupon from the Old Navy app on David's phone but it didn't work. I was reading the fine print in the car and it didn't work because the $75 can't include tax! It would totally have been worth it to buy one more thing to put the total before tax over 75 to get the 15 off. Anyways, David said to keep everything in the bag and take it all back and buy one more thing. I thought that sounded like a big hassle but David said people did that all the time when he worked there. Maybe I'll try and do that on Saturday.
When we got home it was 9:20 and we put the girls right to bed and they went right to sleep. Despite their late bedtime, those girls were awake at 7:30 this morning! I'm not sure which one woke up first but by the time I got up they had woken eachother up. I brought them back to our bed to cuddle since David had already left for work but Emily is just not a very good cuddler. Haley would go back to sleep and lay quietly but Emily just kicks and giggles. Finally I got up and made them some waffles for breakfast. Then I looked at what I had in my fridge because I had to come up with something 'savory' to make for a staff appreciation event we've been having this week for the staff of the church where we do MOPS. I had some tomatoes that were on the edge and a bunch of basil so I decided to make bruschetta. I will totally make that again because it was so easy and pretty good.
Haley followed me outside while I was pulling my basil off of my plant and immediately had to use the potty. I was halfway through picking the leaves off the plant so I thought I would quick finish but I wasn't fast enough because Haley peed her pants. Oops. Around 9:30 we packed up the bruschetta and my stuff for the gym and then headed out. First we went to Wal-mart to pick up some french bread, then we went to the church to drop off our snack, and then we went to the gym. Emily was definitely ready for a nap at that point and I thought that she would surely fall asleep in the car but she never did. I warned the childcare people at the gym that she was tired. I ran and did some weights and took a shower. I kept waiting for the people to come over the loudspeaker and call me to come get Emily. They never did and when the lady handed Emily to me she said, "she did so well, I think this was the best she's ever been." I thought she was joking but it was not the same lady that was there when I dropped her off so she hadn't even gotten my warning. I guess Emily was so tired that she was pleasant. I should bring her there tired more often. Haley did not do as well, apparently she kept pulling off everyone's nametag stickers off their backs.
After the gym we came home and I fed the girls lunch. I had invited a girl named Meg over for lunch and she came just as I was putting bacon in the oven for BLTs. Bacon is so easy to make in the oven, I will never make it over the stove or in the microwave again! I put the girls down for naps just before we sat down to eat and then I was thankful for their early morning wake-up because they both went right down. Meg and I ate and then talked and then she headed out. I cleaned up and read until Haley woke up after sleeping about two and a half hours.
Haley and I played for a while and then we had to go clean-up the staff appreciation snacks at church so we woke Emily up to go. She had been sleeping almost four hours so I didn't feel too bad about it. It only took about fifteen minutes to clean up and head home. Haley was so mad when we pulled into our driveway. I think she was hoping that we were going somewhere more exciting or would be gone for a longer time. I got her out of her car seat and she just stood outside the van and cried until she came inside holding herself because she had to use the potty. Haha, I thought it was funny that she was mad but nature called so she had to come inside.
I took her to the potty and then got her a snack and she was happy then. I set up Emily and Haley in the den with toys while I got out some leftovers for dinner. Our fridge was super full. David got home just after six and we ate. I had already started feeding the girls, they ate mostly french bread leftover from the bruschetta. After dinner we did the dishes and then one of the 8th grade girls from church came over to study for her exams next week. Her mom is Meg the lady I had lunch with and she had been telling me how swamped Ella was so I told her to bring her over to our house and I would help her study. She brought her history study guide and we went over that while David played with the girls. Around eight I helped put the girls to bed, they both went right down. Then I helped Ella a little more until she was ready. It was kind of fun quizzing her on history, it was a good review for when I'm teaching this stuff to Haley and Emily!
Haleyism:
We got a footstool for Haley so she can get up on the potty by herself but it has kind of backfired. It is too easy for her to stand up. Tonight David was taking her potty and she started going and then stood up while she was still going. It was kind of a mess.
