Cinco de Mayo!

SUNDAY morning David was in charge of leading worship so he left just as I was waking up.  I'm used to David helping me with the girls on Sunday mornings so it took a little bit more work to get out the door on time but we made it.  I should be pretty good at it considering I do it almost every other day of the week.  Their outfits are more complicated on Sundays so I guess that makes it harder.  Haley wears white sandals to church and they are the only pair of shoes she is able to put on without any assistance so that is helpful.  The only problem is she usually puts them on the wrong feet, oh well.

Haley was pretty excited to see David when we got to church.  As soon as she woke up she wanted to see him because in her words: "I want to kiss Daddy."  Her excitement turned to sadness when she realized that he wasn't sitting with us for the worship part.  I told her that he would come sit with us soon and that she should just watch him for now.  She thought that was a pretty good idea but still got sad after a while.  The Creeches were sitting with us so I passed Emily down to Sarah and I held Haley.  Sarah was wearing an interesting necklace so Emily was more than happy to go to her and Sarah said she didn't mind her sucking on it.  She did have to take her earrings out though because Emily kept trying to grab those.

After church we stayed and ate some cake that the Watsons had brought to celebrate baby Claire's six months of life.  Her six month Birthday was last week.  Haley was so excited to see the Birthday cake, she kept pointing and saying 'Birthday cake!'  She worked on a piece for a while but probably only ended up eating half.  after cake we helped clean up the church and then came home for lunch.

David played with the girls in the den while I made sandwiches for lunch.  Then the girls ate and we put them down for naps.  Haley must have been crashing after all of her sugar this morning (she had two donuts in addition to the cake) because she slept almost three hours!  Emily only slept about two and was talking and messing around in her crib.  David went in there to get her and he said she was sideways in her crib, on her belly, with her arms pulling down the bumper so she could see Haley and talk to her.  He said Haley had her eyes opened but rolled over as soon as he took Emily out of there, she was still tired.

I played with Emily while David ran out to grab some tortillas and stuff for s'mores.  We had invited the Black family over for dinner and we were having tacos (in honor of Cinco de Mayo of course) and were going to roast smores for dessert.  The Blacks are a family that we have known for several years now.  We have been in a Monday night Bible study before (Libby, the mom and I) and David is involved in a homeless ministry that Josh conducts here in Longview.  Anyways, we've been wanting to have them over for a long time because they have a little girl that is a couple months older than Haley and a little boy who is two months younger than Emily.  They were scheduled to come a few weeks ago but we had to cancel on them because Haley ended up throwing up the night before.

Anyways, while David was gone getting the stuff, Haley woke up and we skyped with the Fentons so we could meet baby Maya.  She is such a sweet little baby.  She was sleeping during the whole skype date but Clark came over and said 'hi' for a bit, Haley was so excited to see both of them.  It was so fun to hear the whole birth story, baby Maya is doing really well!  I ended up having to get off because our company was going to arrive and I realized I hadn't started the Mexican rice yet, oops.  We had pork tacos (the pork had been in the crockpot all day) with guacamole (David made that, I had no idea how to make it), salsa (I made that, super easy recipe), Mexican rice, and chips.

As soon as the Blacks arrived, Ruthie and Haley disappeared into the den where they played until we pulled them away for dinner.  They were walking around holding babies and playing with the doctor kit the Brusts got us.  Actually, Ruthie loved Haley's doctor kit Carly, that toy has been a huge hit with Haley and all of her friends!  The Blacks warned us that Ruthie is not a very good eater but David and I insisted that Haley could probably give her a run for her money in that area!  After eating with them I would say that they are probably equally bad, haha.  Emily ate some avocado and tortillas in her high chair and Libby brought some food for baby Jude.

After dinner we went outside where David started a fire in the fire pit for smores.  Haley and Ruthie were not super interested, they just wanted to play with the riding toys.  Haley ate a couple grahamcrackers, marshmallows, and chocolate separate but she never ate an actual smore.  Emily hung out on my lap and ate a graham cracker and some pieces of marshmallow, she was a sticky mess by the end.  David and I each had to run Haley back to the house to use the potty.  The cutest part of the evening was when Haley and Ruthie were sitting in Haley's red car together.  Ruthie is bigger than Haley but they fit in there okay, we should have gotten a picture!

The Blacks headed out around 8:30.  Haley and Emily were still pretty wound up so we let them giggle together on the floor for a little bit before putting them in their jammies and putting them to bed.

Haleyism:
Tonight Haley spilled some water on one of the camping chairs by the fire and she immediately went over to the paper towels, grabbed some, and started trying to wipe it up.  It was super sweet.

Emilyism:
I can hear Emily coughing over the monitor right now, I wonder if she has allergies or something!
