A day of cuddles

Today David left bright and early and was gone all day so it was just me and the girls.  Just to warn you, I usually don't try to do too much when it's just me and the girls so today was pretty boring.  First we went to BSF.  As I was walking away from dropping Haley off I heard her teacher saying, "Haley you smell like syrup!"  She had waffles for breakfast and had gotten syrup in her hair so I'm sure she did.  I always pick Haley up first and then Haley runs over to Emily's room which is close by and leans over the child gate and calls out for Emy.  It's really sweet.

A bunch of moms from BSF were going to meet at a park for lunch afterwards and invited us to come.  We stopped by the house first to slap together some peanut butter and jelly and then we headed over.  Haley is not a big peanut butter and jelly eater but she ate bites of it when I bribed her with chips.  For every bite she ate, she would get a chip.  Emily ate a bunch of peanut butter and jelly and then dozed off in the stroller.  I left her in the shade and pushed Haley in the swings for a while.  We ended up staying at the park for about an hour and a half and then Haley started to get clingy and I decided it wasn't really worth being at the park if I was just standing and holding my child so we headed home for naps.  When we got home Haley kept asking for more chips and seemed to still be hungry so I pulled a leftover chicken nugget out of the fridge and heated it up and gave it to her and told her if she ate the whole thing then she could have as many chips as she wanted.  Well this must have been super motivating for her because she ate the whole thing and then ate TONS of chips.  I just gave her the bag and over twenty minutes later she was still eating them.  She is definitely addicted to Ritz's sour cream and onion cracker chips.

After the snack I put both of the girls down for naps.  Haley went right to sleep but Emily stayed awake for a good thirty minutes or so.  She was babbling and laughing and messing around in there and I when I went in to put her back on her belly Haley was completely out.  I think Emily was being so loud because she was trying to get Haley's attention, she was basically yelling at her.  Emily calmed down and went to sleep after a bit.  Haley slept a little over two hours and Emy slept over three.  I ended up having to wake Emily up so we could get to church on time.  Haley helped me make my potluck dish for church.  She stood on a chair at the counter and played with the measuring cups and spoons.

I didn't feed Haley a snack after her nap because I wanted her to eat a good dinner and that really worked because she ate a huge piece of pizza for dinner.  It was somebody's Birthday so there were a couple cookie cakes there and Haley ate a piece of that too.  Emily ate a bunch of applesauce and then had some pieces of pizza crust.  Haley and Emily went to the little kid's class together and I did Bible Explorers with Amanda.  After church we came home and I put Emily to bed.  Haley was in a good mood so I let her stay up until David got home.  We read books and she was super sweet.  I have been cuddling a lot with Haley and Emy lately because Aunt Rin e-mailed us about a sad story dealing with abuse and some new orphans they now have at GSF.  It makes me want to cuddle them all the time!

Haleyism:
Haley hates wearing shoes.  She is barefoot almost all the time.  I do bring her shoes along.  Today she went to church without shoes on.  I do put them on but she always takes them off in the van or before.

Emilyism:
Emily desperately wants to move forward but she is nowhere close to crawling.  She usually lays on her belly and just flails.

Emily's face has cake on it

She was crying until I gave her some

Then she was happy

Emily was talking in her crib a good twenty minutes after I put her down for a nap.  I went in there and this was what I found.

This is what it looks like with flash.  She was babbling on and on and Haley was fast asleep.

Playing with her doctor's kit

Cutting her toes

At this point we totally should have been putting her to bed but she was playing so nicely!

  1. Haley's hair is so long! I was just talking to Mom about how different it looks from last year this time (at the beach in SC).
Ellie also wants to move. Maybe if I tell her that Emy is right on her tail that'll be motivation... I'm impressed that she eats peanut butter and jelly!
