An Evening in Marshall

Friday morning was kind of rough.  Emily had woken up a couple times during the night.  She woke up around 7 and was crying.  Katelyn didn't want to feed her because she had gone to bed at midnight and didn't need to eat.  Emily's crying woke up Haley.  After a few attempts at trying to stick in a paci and change her diaper, I finally decided to stick in the ipad with the sound app on.  They whimpered here and there until Haley came out crying.  She lay by me for a while until Emily started crying around 8:20.  Katelyn told me to bring her, but in my lazy sleepiness, I didn't do it quite quick enough.  She kinda got mad and went to get her so she could nurse her.  Then the babies lay together in our room for a while.  I had to get up when Haley wanted to eat a waffle.  It worked out because I had a contractor coming to the house today.  We are pushing forward with switching from septic to city sewer.  I got in the shower and wasn't quite quick enough, as Katelyn came to tell me he was standing outside on the porch.  I dressed quick and went outside to talk to him.  He's gonna get me a quote mid next week.  Praise: looks like the city's going to pay at least part of the cost for extending the main, maybe all of it!  We talked a few minutes and then I came back inside.  Haley was finishing her second waffle and I gave Emily a few pieces of that to work on while Katelyn jumped in the shower.  Our one item to accomplish for the day was done, so we talked about what we could do as a family.  We settled on going to Marshall, which is a town about 25 minutes away.  They have several cheap museums that have interactive things for kids.  Not 15 minutes after I had told Katelyn "I can guarantee I will be home today because there is nothing on the schedule," my secretary called asking if I could go pick up the Lear from maintenance in Dallas.  I didn't feel like I could say no because I'm only working one day this week.  The girls were in the tub when I found out.  Emily pooped in the tub which was an adventure in and of itself.  Haley ended up peeing her pants two times today.  Anyway, I headed to the airport and Katelyn hung around with the girls.  She said they went to the dollar store because she had heard they sell Nature's Own bread there for a dollar.  She was right and greatly excited! Then they went to Target because she had seen online there were some flats from this winter that you could get for 8 cents with a coupon or something. Turns out the deal wasn't quite that amazing.  She got shoes for 3.49 which is still pretty crazy.
When I got home, the girls were napping and Katelyn was doing her devos so I talked to Sarah on the phone a while.  Then we woke them up and headed out to one of the museums that was said to be open till 5pm.  We got there shortly after 4 and saw that the sign on the door said they were only open till 4.  It must have been a typo online.  Since we had already driven out there, we figured we would just walk around and find a park for Haley to play.  We walked a few blocks and found a really cool park.  It had lots of toys and slides.  There was a smaller castle thing with small slides for the babies and a bigger one for big kids like Haley.  She had fun sliding down all the slides and climbing up the ladders.  She also swung for a while, as did Emily.  They even swung together for a while in one of those swings for handicap people.

After playing a while, we headed back to the van.  We then headed to the Jalapeno Tree in Marshall for dinner.  Haley and Emily both ate pretty well.  They both like chips and tortillas.  They were both pretty good too.  Haley watched the ipad and Emily watched TV and tortillas.

They have free soft serve ice cream which Haley and Emily both love.  Then we headed back to Longview with a brief stop at a gas station so Haley could use the pottywhere we saw THIS:

Nothing but class in east Texas, nothing but class. On the drive back, Haley kept saying she wanted to see a cow.  I'm not sure why she was so obsessed with seeing one, but at one point she said "vacas are so cute" which means "cows are so cute".  After we made it back to Longview, Emily was asleep, so we decided to take Haley to see animals at the pet store since we had only seen a few cows on the way home.  She really liked the puppies and some new kittens they had.  The fish are always a hit.  Emily woke up as we were looking at the cats (see Emilyism).  Then we headed home and they were both pretty fussy so we got their jammies on, Katelyn fed Emily while I read Haley her Bible story, and then put them to bed.

In other news, Kelly had her baby around 2:19 Central Daylight Time.  Her name is Maya, in honor of my ancestors, the Maya.  Just kidding...but I feel closer to her already.

Looks pretty healthy!

I think Haley had this blanket!

Haleyism: Whenever Haley comes out of her room either in the morning or after a nap, she always closes the door behind her.  So polite!

Emilyism: Emily woke up from her nap to a pregnant cat staring her in the face.  The pet store can be a rude awakening...
