Yesterday we had Bible study in the morning at the Caldwell's. Haley played really nicely the whole time we were there. Amanda got out their Ipad after a while and turned on a show for the girls but Haley was too busy playing to watch. That may be a first for her, usually she is glued to any and every screen in sight. After Bible study we came home and ate lunch and then the girls went down for naps.
Haley slept about two and a half hours and Emily slept about three. David got home shortly after Haley woke up. We were reading books on the couch. Usually she is so excited when David gets home but today she was glued to the Curious George story I was reading for the second time. David had to crawl around and act like a dog and then she detached herself from the book and got down to play with him. She loves her Curious George book. My cousin Katie Estes got it for her so if someone sees her they can tell her that it is Haley's favorite. She likes the story about Curious George and the dump truck.
I left David with the girls for the evening because I had a MOPS event. When I left he was all set up with the girls in the den watching Dora. He had made a frozen pizza so they were eating that and watching TV, family time at it's finest. When I got back he had a great report on the girls. He said they watched some Dora and then he gave them baths and put them to bed at 7:45 and they went right down. I was pretty surprised about that since they had taken such good naps but we'll take it!
This morning we kind of paid for the earlier bedtime because both of the girls were up at eight. Eight is really not bad at all except David and I stayed up until midnight the night before so that was our bad I guess! David didn't have to work today so we had the whole day together. First we got up and had breakfast and took showers. Then Emily went down for a morning nap while we played with Haley. Well, David was working on music for the service on Sunday and Haley and I were listening and playing. Emily only slept about thirty minutes or so and then she was up, I think she must finally have teeth coming in. I know I say that a lot but I really think she does this time, she has been drooling so much. We fed the girls lunch and gave Emily some medicine. Then we took them to the Smith's to play while we went on a date.
Both of the Smith kids were sleeping when we got there but Haley got right to work playing. We were gone for about an hour and Meagan said they did really well the whole time. She said they spent most of the time playing with toys on the floor. She said at one point they were playing and Emily did a sort of side face plant. She said Haley looked at Meagan and pointed at Emily and then pointed at Meagan as if to say, "see this baby? You need to get her." It got her funny bone.
After we picked up the girls we run a couple errands around Longview. We are giving out some gift cards at our MOPS meeting on Tuesday and I needed to go out and buy them. David dropped me off at the front of Hobby Lobby but they all came in with me to Target. The last place was Chick-fil-a and I brought Haley in because I thought she might want to play in the playground while I got the cards. It turns out she didn't until the last minute we were in there. She had enough time to take off her shoes and then put them back on. She didn't get upset when I told her it was time to go though so that was good.
As soon as we got home we put them down for naps. Haley slept about two hours and Emy slept more like two and a half. When they woke up I gave them a small snack and then we went next door to visit our elderly neighbor Francis, the girls call her Nana. Nana has not been feeling well and has not been able to visit the past couple times we've gone so we were pretty excited when her son answered the door and told us she was well enough for a visit! We didn't stay long, maybe ten minutes which was good because Haley was still feeling shy after ten minutes and wasn't getting into anything. I had told Haley not to ask for candy while we were there and she kept repeating my instructions, "don't ask for candy" while we were walking over and I was afraid she would do it while we were there which would defeat the purpose altogether but she didn't say anything about candy the whole time we were there. I rewarded her with a marshmallow when we got home, she loves marshmallows.
After our visit we packed up our diaper bag and headed out to meet up with some friends from church for dinner. There is a couple in our church named Josh and Chelsie who just started going a couple months ago. Anyways, they are about our age but they don't have any kids. They invited us to meet them for dinner and I told them we could get a baby-sitter but they said they wanted the kids to come. I was afraid that it would be a strong dose of birth control but the girls actually did quite well. We set up the Ipad after a little bit and they were pretty much glued to that, even Emily. We did explain that she's only allowed to have it at restaurants. After dinner we went back to their house for dessert. Josh couldn't believe that Haley wasn't asking for the Ipad at all at their house because she was obviously so attached to it. She definitely knows it's only for restaurants. The only problem is that she expects it everytime and watches it the whole time, I feel like she may never be able to hold a conversation or be socially normal when we go out to eat.
Josh and Chelsie have two dogs which they put into their laundry room which had a doggy gate on it so Haley could still see the dogs but knew they couldn't get her. She was pretty intrigued by them but obviously nervous. Emily was pretty tired by the time we got to their house so I left her in the infant seat and put David's phone on the white noise app and she went out like a light. Chelsie had some math manipulatives (she's a math teacher) that she let Haley play with and she was busy with those the whole time. We stayed for a little over an hour and talked and ate dessert and then headed home. It was 9:30 when we got home so we put them right to bed and they went right to sleep!
Haleyism/Emilyism:
David said that he read them a book before he put the girls to bed on Thursday night. He said he was holding both of them in his lap and reading and Haley reached over and grabbed Emy's hand. He said she held it for a while and then let go and then Emy reached over and grabbed Haley's hand back and held it. I'm not convinced that Emy grabbed Haley's hand on purpose but David said it was intentional. He said he wanted to take a picture so bad but he couldn't because they were both on his lap and his phone was in his pocket. Maybe next time!
